去年の11月頃に購入して以来、庭に放置してあった薔薇の苗木５鉢を、やっと植え替えました。
We finally transplanted the five rose bushes that had been left unattended in our garden since we bought them last November.
放置したかったわけではないのですが、暮れに腰を痛めてしまい、何も出来なかったためです。
I didn't want to leave them there, but I hurt my back at the end of last year, and I wasn't to able to do gardening for a while.
やっと腰も回復したので、植え替えることが出来たわけです。
My back is almost healed, and we were able to transplant them.
と言っても、作業はほぼすべてBrianがやったんですけどね。
Actually, Brian did most of the work.
実は、放置している間に、可愛そうなバラたちはプラスチックの鉢の底の穴を通して地中に根を張っていたのです。
While being left unattended in the garden, those poor rose bushes started to grow their roots through the holes in the bottom of the plastic pots into the ground.
なので、Brianの作業はまず、その鉢をはさみで切ってはずすことから始まりました。
Brian's work started with cutting the pots with stem cutter.
プラスチックって意外と硬いんですよね。
Actually, the plastic was very hard.
かなり苦労していました(^_^;)
It wasn't an easy work.
でも何とか植え替えも終わり、バラ達も私たちもはっぴーです。
We fished transplanting successfully, and both we and the bushes are happy.
