I wanna share with you that I experienced in the US in terms of culture and price of stuff. The photo above was taken in New ark international airport in NYC. This is sushi so-called like a california roll. It costs 20 USD. At the moment, it equals 3,000 yen.
私がアメリカで体験した文化や物価について紹介したい。上の写真はニューヨークのニューアーク国際空港で撮ったものです。いわゆるカリフォルニアロールのような寿司です。値段は20ドル。 現在、日本円で3,000円です。
During the conference, I stayed in Ritz Carlton Naples. I was able to stay with affordable prices due to MDRT. But if I stay here for 4 nights without help of MDRT, it will cost 3200 USD, or 480,000 yen.
会議の間、私はリッツ・カールトン・ネープルスに滞在した。MDRTのおかげで手ごろな値段で泊まることができた。しかし、普通にMDRT抜きで4泊すると3200ドル、日本円で48万円もする。
I bought this book in a bookstore in Naples. Prices of books seem to be fixed in all over the US. The fixed price was 16.99 USD, 2500 yen.
この本はネイプルズの本屋で買いました。アメリカ全土で本の値段は統一、決まっているようだ。定価は16.99ドル、2500円だった。
I stayed 2 days in NYC. I used Residence inn by Marriott. It's affiliated with Marriott group. Actually, this residence type hotels are lower grade than usual Marriott hotels. Nevertheless, it cost 1150USD, 170,000yen for 2 days. As you can see, it has complimentary breakfast but it not classy.
ニューヨークに2日間滞在しました。利用したのはResidence inn by Marriott。マリオットグループのホテルだ。実際にはこのレジデンス・タイプのホテルは通常のマリオット・ホテルよりグレードが低い。それでも2日間で1150ドル、17万円だった。見ての通り、朝食は無料だが、高級感はない。
In times square. Prices of caps are affordable. But I saw some shops sell these caps for 20 to 25 USD each.
タイムズスクエア内。キャップの値段は手頃だ。でも、1個20ドルから25ドルで売っている店もあった。
That sandwich and coffee that I grabbed in a shopping mall in Manhattan cost 15 USD, 2,200yen. I'm afraid that ordinary Japanese people can't travel to NYC because they will be going bankrupt.
マンハッタンのショッピングモールで買ったサンドイッチとコーヒーは15ドル、2200円だった。 普通の日本人は破産してしまうので、ニューヨークには行けないと思う。
On the other hand, it was not so expensive. A hot dog and canned diet coke cost only 4 USD, 600 yen.
その一方で、こちらはそれほど高くはなかった。ホットドッグと缶のダイエットコーラで4ドル、600円しかしなかった。
The most surprising was this. I got a haircut in Manhattan. I ordered to cut my hair, shaving and shampoo. I payed 116 USD, 17,000yen😂😂
一番驚いたのはこれだ。マンハッタンで散髪をした。散髪、ひげそり、シャンプーを頼んだ。116ドル、17,000円😂😂。
Instant coffee are sold for 16.99 USD, 2,400 yen.
インスタントコーヒーは16.99ドル、2,400円で売られている。
A panini which I bought in the supermarket where instant coffee were sold cost 8.99 USD, 1,350 yen.

Drivers of Uber are almost immigrants from foreign country. Some of them from Pakistan, some of them from Nepal, are speaking English. But some of them are not fluent.
ウーバーのドライバーはほとんど外国からの移民だ。パキスタン出身のドライバーもいれば、ネパール出身のドライバーもいる。みな英語は話せる。みな流暢というわけではない。
Surprisingly, they don't hesitate to call thei friends while driving. To respect customers is not prioritized in the US, compared to Japan.
驚くことに、彼らは運転中に友人に電話することをためらわない。日本に比べて、アメリカでは顧客を尊重することが優先されない。
In addition to it, NYC is filled by honking sounds everywhere. I heard so many honking as much as I've ever heard in my entire life. It's common thing in NYC. Not to intimidate others, but let others be aware that I am here. I didn't think so. I just felt they are irritated by hassle life.
それに加えて、ニューヨークはいたるところでクラクションの音に満ちている。今までの人生で聞いたことがないくらいたくさんのクラクションを聞いた。ニューヨークではよくあることだ。他人を威嚇するためではなく、私がここにいることを知らせるためだ。私はそうは思わなかった。ただ、面倒くさがりの人たちがイライラしているのだと感じました。
One day, I used Uber for very short distances due to sudden rain. I rode it for 4 minutes and maybe under 1 km. It cost 12.94 USD, 2,000 yen.
ある日、突然の雨のため、ごく短い距離だけUberを利用した。乗った時間は4分、距離は1キロ弱。料金は12.94ドル、2,000円だった。
I remember that I was surprised the cost of Uber was soaring when I went to Boston after pandemic. I doubted the bill because Japanese yen was weak as well as before the pandemic. I felt strong inflation in the US.
そういえば、パンデミック後にボストンに行ったとき、Uberの料金が高騰していて驚いたことがあった。パンデミック前と同様、日本円が安かったからだ。アメリカのインフレの強さを感じた。
Sightseeing places in NYC are jam packed with foreigners travelers. I heard several languages here and there.
ニューヨークの観光地は外国人旅行者でごった返している。あちこちで数ヶ国語を耳にした。
Citi bike! I also used it 10 years ago. That was when I attended my first annual meeting if MDRT in philadelphia. I took an Amtrak and visited NYC.
シティサイクル！私も10年前に利用しました。フィラデルフィアで開催されたMDRTの年次総会に初めて出席したときのことだ。アムトラックに乗ってニューヨークを訪れました。
You need to make an account of it and sign up . Travelers can use 1 day for 20 USD. But you can ride for 30 minutes at a time. Once you return your bike to bike stations which exist everywhere in NYC, you can use it again for 30 minutes.
シティバイクのアカウントを作ってサインアップする必要がある。旅行者は20ドルで1日利用できる。ただし、1回30分しか乗れない。NYCのあちこちにあるサイクルステーションに自転車を返却すれば、また30分間利用できる。
At a Starbucks near World Trade Center. Asian young woman was chatting with African American man. I don't know she is Japanese or other Asian countries' or he is African American originally raised in the US or not.

But I realized they use English as a tool to communicate. I heard that the population who
use English as the second language is much larger than the one who are native speakers.
でも、彼らは英語をコミュニケーションのツールとして使っていることにはたと気づいた。第二言語として英語を使う人口は、英語を母国語とする人口よりもはるかに多いそうだ。

In his country, everyone learns English as the second language to play an active part in the world. He had watched English movies since he was young. Therefore he can understand native English.
彼の国では、世界で活躍するために誰もが第二外国語として英語を学ぶ。彼は小さい頃から英語の映画を見ていた。だからネイティブの英語は理解できる。
These are photos taken in 2013 when I attended the first annual meeting for me in Philadelphia. I was overwhelmed by the US and MDRT. It was also for the first time I stepped the mainland of America.

Ten years ago, I couldn't expect myself of 10 years later. Of course, wheny father passed away 20 years ago and I received payment from life insurance, I couldn't expect 20 years later or even 10 years later, that I joined life insurance industry.
10年前の自分には、10年後の自分は予想できなかった。もちろん、20年前に父が亡くなり、生命保険から保険金を受け取ったときも、20年後、いや10年後に自分が生命保険業界に入るとは思ってもみなかった。
