ここで特筆すべきはノーブル財団が「アメリカの原子爆弾2発により広島と長崎の住民約12万人が死亡してから来年は80年目にあたる。その後の数か月、数年間に、同数の人々が火傷や放射線障害で亡くなった。 広島と長崎の猛火を生き延びた被爆者の運命は、長い間隠蔽され、無視されてきました。」と明確に表明したこと
これほど多くの尊い命が一瞬にして奪られた事実はどんな理由があれど許されることではありません
被爆者の方々の想像を絶するほどの肉体的な苦痛や辛い過去の記憶に耐えてこられ、怒りや恨み、復讐などではなく、希望や平和のために長年地道に続けてこられた草の根運動が評価されたことが何よりもうれしいですね
