I was heading for CEATEC which was held in Makuhari in the morning of October 8th.

Makuhari is really far from my house. Also, typhoon was approaching Japan on that day. Therefore, I left my house quite early in the morning. JR reduced number of trains in order to prepare for approaching typhoon. Therefore, the train I took was really packed. It was not really comfortable to ride on such a crowded train. The train was so crowded and uncomfortable that I decided to take Musashino-line from Nishi-Kokubunji because I thought I could take a seat if I took Musashino-line. I was wrong. There were huge number of people waiting for a train on a Musashino-line platform when I got there. I didn't ride when a train came in because of too much people. But after that, a train didn't come for long time. Then, there was an announcement saying that a train had to stop at a station which was several stations away because of strong wind. Musashino-line is known for its fragility for strong wind. I gave up waiting there and moved to Chuo-line platform. Then I found that the Chuo-line stopped too.

I realized that I had no other choice than staying the Nishi-Kokubunji station until the train started to run again. So, I went to a coffee shop in the station, did some work by connecting PC to the internet. Eventually, they announced that the train wouldn't run at least until noon. Huuumm..

That's why I went to a Ramen shop - Kumayoshi - in Kokubunji on that day.

Charshu men is what I ordered in Kumayoshi. It was like Hachioji ramen because of chopped onion topping. Soup is a bit salty. I like the taste. My score for the shop is 3 out of 1 - 5 scale.

I went to a ramen shop - HANABI- in Shinjuku last night before picking up my daughter at her cram school.

Although the shop seems to be popular according to some of ramen blogs, the shop was not crowded at all when I went there around 8PM.
I ordered 'Negi (Green onion) ramen' - 800 yen. I was glad to see there were a few pieces of charshu, which is not normal for the other ramen shops. If you don't order 'Charshu ramen', you usually get only a piece of sliced charshu. By the way, charshu is a thinly sliced roasted pork. The charshu in this shop was really good.

Recently, most of ramen soup comes with strong fish flavor. But the soup here doesn't. It came with decent soy source flavor with slightly roasted green onion. Though the soup was a kind of light one, I liked the taste very much.

Shinjuku has tens of good ramen shops. I'm sure I'll come back to this shop after visiting other major shops in this area.

On Friday, I went to OGAWA-YA with my colleagues for lunch.
Ogawa-ya offers good and solid Hachioji ramen. I had Charshu men.

Since I ate a bowl of ramen in Highashi Koganei which went totally against my tongue, the frequency for eating ramen suddenly went up. That is something like eliminating the nightmare by eating gooood ramens.

I went following ramen shops just in ten days or so.....

楓 (Kaede in Hachioji) 9/12
塩とろ肉楓麺 (Salty taste noodle with softly roasted pork)

- Excellent.

黒門 (Kuromon in Shinjuku) 9/12
つけめん (Tsuke-men or ramen with dipping source)
$Bike, Lunch and Ramens ...-Kuromon
- I should have ordered some toppings like grilled chicken. Source was a little bit unique with its sour taste. Could be good to eat once in a while.

樽座 (Taru-za in Hachioji) 9/13
醤油ラーメン (Shoyu or soy source taste ramen)
$Bike, Lunch and Ramens ...-Taruza shoyu
- Found that the shoyu ramen in this shop was great. I actually don't like Miso ramen which is signature noodle in this shop. I had it a year ago but it didn't ring my bell at all because I felt shrimp flavor was too strong. But I found this time that the shoyu ramen was really good. It is because the base of the soup is rich combination of fish soup and pork bone soup.
I'll come back when I feel to eat fatty strong taste ramen.

藍華 (Aika in Hachioji) 9/18
チャーシューメン (Chashu men)
$Bike, Lunch and Ramens ...-aika
- Very good Hachioji ramen. Many of Hachioji ramen shops are closed on Sunday. Aika looks open even on Sunday, which is good. Tsuke-men seems to be popular because many customers ordered it. I'll get it next time.

弘富 (Hirotomi in Hachioji) 9/19
辛みそもやしチャーシューラーメン (Spicy Miso Chashu ramen with bean sprout)
$Bike, Lunch and Ramens ...-Hirotomi
- Very good. The shop is known for its rich fish flavor. I think the Miso is a little bit too strong. But it still tastes very good.

楓 (Kaede in Hachioji) 9/22
特つけ楓麺 & キムチご飯 (Toku tsuke Kaede men & Kimchi rice)
Bike, Lunch and Ramens ...-kaede
Bike, Lunch and Ramens ...-kaede kimchi
- Excellent. I tried Kimchi rice for the first time. It came with Kimchi and pieces of roasted pork and the taste is great especially with the soup.
