I had chance to visit an university in Higashi Koganei for business for two days in a row. Having business trip is a good reason to have ramen. I checked a good ramen shop by checking in my colleague who graduated from the university. The shop he recommended was 'Hoka'.
I went there on the first day for lunch. However, there was a long line of customers waiting. Because I had to go back in 30 minutes or so, I gave up entering the shop and went into a near-by ramen shop called 'Nonki-Tei'. I had no information regarding the shop. But the shop was reasonably crowded, which I thought indicated reasonable taste. 'Abura-soba' - or oily noodle if literary translated - was recommended by the chef. Abura-soba is a kind of popular local noodle in Tama area and I expected a good one because of the reasonable crowd. However....
I don't make comment on the taste here because every one has different preference. But I never go there.
Here's my experience to find out bad ramen shop. If there are too many kinds of noodle in a menu, the ramen is not good.
I finally went to 'Hoka' on the next day. Abura-soba was excellent. The price (600 yen) is also good. Huge amount of green onion and spring onion made oily noodle fresh and tasty.
Upper picture e shows the one in Hoka. Lower one shows the one in Nonki-Tei. I guess you can tell the taste difference from their outlook.
