THOUSANDS of pounds was raised for charity after JCB colleagues smashed through their Pounds 5,000 target.

The 25-strong team took part in last week's Race for Life at Trentham Gardens to support Cancer Research UK.

They all wore T-shirts with pink JCB logos and have so far raised Pounds 6,500.

Among them was purchasing PA Sue Redding, who works at JCB's World Headquarters in Rocester and who organised the team's participation after a successful Embroidered patches mastectomy two years ago.

The 54-year-old said: "Last year when we took part in the Race for Life we raised Pounds 2,500 so this time we set ourselves the task of doubling that figure.

I'm delighted we've managed to raise Pounds 6,500 so far.

"It was a fantastic night, made even better by the fact we raised so much money thanks to our sponsors."

Cancer Research UK organises the annual five kilometre Race for Life at 230 venues across the UK.
