167th Gospel of Mark 7
That the author is a Hellenist can be inferred from the textual content as well as the textual table. For example, the passage about the Sanhedrin conspiring to frame Jesus for the execution was used as an argument for anti-Semitism in later generations. The author's depiction of the Pharisees as thoroughly evil clearly indicates that the target audience was either non-Jews or Jews from Alexandria and other areas that were strongly influenced by Hellenism. Furthermore, the author of "The Gospel of Mark," like the other Synoptic Gospels, quotes from the Old Testament from the Seventy Translations of the Bible. However, the above does not mean that "The Gospel of Mark" is simply anti-Semitic in color. In the Gospel, Jesus is portrayed according to the traditional Jewish view of the Messiah.
