Kevin: Yes, but just the science homework took me three hours.

授与型でtake「時間やお金がかかる/奪う」、そうした意味合いの動詞が使われるとマイナスの授与の関係が生まれる

gave it to meのように、受け手に前置詞のtoをつけて一番後に持ってくる。こうした文の形は普通の授与型と違って受け手を強調する形

Steve: Good. Now, about dinner, I've booked a table at your favorite restaurant.
Maya: Wonderful. It's not far from the hotel. I'll walk.
Steve: No. It's getting dark. I have a car, so I'll pick you up. I'll be there in about fifteen minutes.
Maya: Thank you. I can't wait to see you.
Steve: Me too. See you soon.

Chris: Yes. What I want to say is that from time to time, I think it's a good idea to add variety and color to your English. One way of doing that is to focus on some of the expressions we include such as "The wedding cost a fortune" ―
Rosa: Or "worth every penny".
Chris: Right. So "The wedding cost a fortune". You can say, "The wedding cost a lot". That's very normal but "cost a fortune" is more colorful. How about with "every penny"?
Rosa: "Worth every penny". You can say "worth it". But again it's nice to have some flavor to your language.
Chris: Exactly.
