That’s wonderful news. Fantastic! 祝福の対象には強めの前置詞[on]が似合う。相手の達成を喜ぶ心情表現として、I’m so happy for you. I’m thrilled for you. Good for you. Well done. Way to go.

次は職場で交わす会話。相手のチョットした変化へのコメントはコミュニケーションを円滑にする。Good morning! You look happy. What happened? 挨拶にはしばしば相手の印象に対するコメントが加えられ、会話の流速を上げる有効な一手となる。Hi! Are you okay? You look a bit down. 沈んで見えた時。 Good morning! What’s the matter? What’s wrong? Is everything all right? この３つは相手を気遣う定型表現。Morning! I like your jacket. It really suits you. Where did you get it? 相手のチョコット変化に対するコメントはとても有効。What have you done with your hair? There is something different about your hair. 髪型の変化を見逃さないのは女性のポイントが高い（私には嫌味だが）。Long time no see. I hope everything has been going well for you. 久々に会った人への温かい気遣い。

次は最も当たり障りのない挨拶、天候に関するコメント。Good morning, Nice weather , isn’t it? 主語の[it]が省略されている付加疑問文。Morning！perfect weather for a walk.[weather]は「晴れ」「曇り」「雨」「雪」「気温」「湿度」「風」等を含めた包括的な気象を表す単語。I love this kind of mild weather. こんな言い回しもできる。Hi! It’s getting hotter every day [by the day], isn’t it? [hot]は「暖かい」。[scorching]だと「灼熱の」。[nice and warm]は「程よく温かい」。The sunshine is really strong, today.「日差しが強い」。 Feels like spring already. 「すっかり春めいた」。Hi there! It’s a bit chilly this morning. [chilly]は「肌寒い」。[cool]は「涼しい」。[cold]は「寒い」。[freeze]は「凍えるぐらい寒い」。Hey! Quite humid today, don’t you think? [humid]「じめじめする」。[muggy]「蒸し蒸しする」。[sweltering]「うだるように熱い」。

Did you have a busy week? 差し迫った内容でなくても気になる話題はいくらでもある。これは近況を聞く一つの例。

四方山話編
北海道の夏も熱くなった。新型コロナウイルスの一律給付金を使って6年前に購入したリビングのエアコン。常時使うというわけではないが、重宝している。昨年二男夫婦が帰省するのに合わせて簡易のエアコンを購入。しかし音がうるさく虫が侵入し易いことが判明。今年はその反省を踏まえ、値上がりする前、２階にエアコンを設置。これでいつ帰省しても大丈夫。私の勉強部屋もいざとなれば快適に。２０年前には、エアコンなど考えたこともなかったが、こうなってしまった。これから２０年後は、もっと考えてもいなかったことが現実になるのだろう。
