高野山福山別院にて。
朝早く起き、荷詰めや御勤めをしてから朝食を取りました。
どなたかからいただいた、「９」を模ったベーグルもありました。
岡山県は金光町にある金光教の本拠地を目指し、24kmの道のりを歩き始めました。
道中、朝日新聞を購入しました。
そこには、僕とイーロックが昨日、平和を願って行ったパフォーマンスの様子が
写真つきで紹介されていました。
今日のウォークはこれまでで一番長い距離を歩いたので、
何人かの参加者は身体にこたえているようでした。
道中、年配の女性が、重い買い物袋を抱えて、日本語で話しかけてきました。
荷物が重すぎるのだということがわかったので、家まで持ってさしあげました。
お礼にヤクルトをくれたので、次の休憩地点で、参加者のみんなと分け合いました。
金光教平和活動センターに着き、挨拶をしたり、センター内の見学をしたりした後、
私達は、なぜこのピースウォークに参加しているかについて語り合いました。
自分自身が関わった、殺害や償いに関する話を共有してくれた人もいれば、
私たちの社会が持っている、紛争解決手段を変えていく必要があるという意見を共有してくれた人もいました。
日本国憲法の第9条は、全ての核兵器の廃絶と、
国際紛争を解決する手段としての、武力行使の放棄を謳っています。
この理念こそが、現在の政治体制の中で危機に瀕しているのです。
最後に、金光教の選り抜きの教えをもって、この投稿を終えます。
「旅はたのしい。道中、さまざまなことを見、体験することができる。
修行も同じだ。深く進めば進むほど、ありがたいものの存在がわかってくる。」

Woke up early morning, packed, prayed & ate breakfast (which included donated bagels in the shape of a 9) in Kouboudishi (founder) Fukuyama (location) Koyasan (mountain/main temple) Betsuin (branch) Temple.
We set off to Konkoyo Headquarters in Konko-cho, Okayama the distance of 24 km . During the walk I picked up the Asahi newspaper & inside they had a picture of myself & Eroc performing yesterday, promoting Peace/Article 9. The walk was the longest to date & took its toll on some of the participants. During the trek, an elderly lady approached me with a heavy bag of ｇｒｏｃｅｒｉｅｓ and began speaking to me in Japanese. I realized the bag was too heavy for her, so I carried it to her home. She gifted me with a small pack of Yakuruto (cultured yogurt drink) which I distributed amongst my comrades at our next rest stop.
We arrived at our location, met our hosts (Konkokyo Peace Action Center), introduced ourselves, had a brief tour, engaged in conversations about our reasons for Walking For Peace. Some shared personal stories of murder & redemption and the need to change how our society resolves conflict. Article 9 in the Japanese constitution calls for disarment of all nuclear weapons and excludes violence as a method of solving international conflict. This is something that is in danger of being removed with the current political regime.
And I'll sign off on this note, with a selected teaching from the Konko Faith."Travelling is fun. You can see & experience different things while you're travelling..Practiticing faith is the same. The further you go, the more you recgnize the things to be thankful for."
