9 Egyptian men have gone on trial in Greece accused of causing the biggest migrant shipwreck (難破船) in the Mediterranean for a decade.

The Greek prosecution’s case directly contradict (矛盾する) the Greek Coast Guard’s highly contentious (議論のある) claim from last summer that the boat was safe and so not in need of rescue.
At least 6 survivors have since told the BBC the Coast Guard themselves capsized the boat in a botched (下手にやる) effort to tow it.
The Greek Coast Guard has repeatedly deny that it caused the migrant boat to sink interfered with witnesses (目撃者) or attempted a cover-up (もみ消し).
