The governor of the Brazilian state of Rio Grande de Sol has announced the deployment of an extra thousand police and security officers to stop looting and crime in areas devastated by floods. 

 

At least 95 people have died and dozens are missing. Rescue workers have been hampered by the activities in criminal gangs. 

 

They’ve been attacking emergency teams. Suzan is a resident of the state capital Port Alegre:

There are thousands of people who lost their houses, 

 

now we don’t have water anywhere, cities were devastated, 

 

my mother-in-law,  90-year-old and she had to be carried by the rescuers. 

 

It’s unbelievable what is going on here.
