The girl on the Porsche was a Keiko Tory, a junior high school classmate of Niko’s.  After junior high school graduation, the two hadn’t met for nearly 10-years.  They met again in 1971, when the Higashi-Kantō Expressway was opened to traffic.

The Higashi-Kantō Expressway was the access to the new Narita Airport, although the Airport wasn’t opened yet.  So the Expressway became a very  gigantic infrastructure, a six-lane, never realized in the past.  Especially, the route between about the Shioiri interchange in Tokyo to Narashino, which ran above reclaimed areas, hadn’t issues about evictions and buy-offs, so obtained very oceanic space.

If there weren’t any cars running in sight, the place was like a huge public circuit.
