The Austerity Agenda @ New York Times

“the more the debtors pay, the more they owe.”

The line above represents how countries financially wrong-working.  As if indefinitely flooding out of a golden forest, national budget in many countries just is flying high without any solid basis of income.  A typical example is Japan, my home country.

Population is decreasing and ration of elder person is increasing. You may find a lot of those who have passed their 65 or 70 on streets walking, shopping, and driving a car even.  The government, which always runs the most for every party's seat, is unable to convince to apply austerity budget or tax increase with reasonable explanation to convince its citizens, who also barely know where they stand at.

Looking at Greece, public sectors are biggest employers with high income.  Looking at Japan, public workers and half-public workers, such as TEPCO, are criticized as unfairly high income.  If the government cannot cut those expense from its finance, why don't politicians try to increase taxes from them while they are very good at illusion ordinary citizens?
