My apology for not writing for the past two weeks. I was busy with the Chinese Language Test and my Italian lessons. Now that the test is over and I am going on fine with my Italian lessons, it's time to come back to the newsletter.

The topic for the week is the Upper House Election.

After all these years living in Japan I still do not understand how the executive branch works in Japan. I know there is a UpperHouse and a LowerHouse, a prime minister and a non-relevant royal family. However, I do not know what are they swapping their prime minister that quick, and I do not know why are they having general elections like - to exagerate things a bit - every six months.

Since I do not have a TV at home I dont know how the candidates run their campaign. However, I am not losing much even though I dont see them on the TV. Whenever there is an election coming up these candidates will tour around town in their area of constituent waving hands from their vehicle and running tapes recorded with their propoganda.

You can see how it actually works on my blog.

I suppose you guys know Japan is very ill on her financials. The people are aging, the tax revenue is dropping and the insurance premium is rising for all working people. At the rate things go, I do not doubt if my life in Japan will suddenly taking a sharp turn towards hardship.

However, there seems to be no major politic parties out there making their stances on these issues. They are only making promise - which is what they do best anyway - that things will become better if they were elected. Sure. You bet. I dont have the right to vote and I dont really care that much.

Have a nice day!

Regards,
