A satirical “mockumentary” television series, “The Office” delves in the lives of office employees in the Scranton, Pennsylvania branch of the fictional Dunder Mifflin, a paper supply company. A camera crew decided to follow them day and night and they lapped up the idea, especially Michael Scott, who is the clown tour guide for the documentary.
A single, middle aged man and the head of the branch, Michael Scott (Steve Carell, “Get Smart”, “Little Miss Sunshine”) feels he is the soul of the office, a fountain of business knowledge and a staunch friend. Not a hope! His employees feel otherwise. They tolerate him only because he signs their paychecks. At a given moment, going to a lot of infinite to be liked and to look cool, Michael becomes pathetic. Bearing the brunt of his inappropriate behavior is Pam Beesly (Jenna Fischer, “Blades of Glory”, “Walk Hard”), a friendly office receptionist. But her conversations with Jim Halpert delight the cockles of her heart and make up for it.
