血液型 Blood Type

Hello, I'm Shinya (*´∀`*)ﾉ 　

Today I'd like to think about the personality from the point of view of blood types, or Japan Blood Type Theory of Personality.

Japanese people, actually people of all ages, men and women, are really curious to see our personality from the perspective of blood types even though we are not doctors.
As a matter of fact, I'm not crazy about that kind of superstitions and fortune-tellings, such as blood type, birthday, first name or last name, that sort of things.

But anyway, so many many Japanese people are so enthusiastic about Blood Type Theory of Personality, say, at a lunch time, or kind of get togethers, at anywhere and anytime we have opportunities to talk with our friends and coworkers, and others.

How about you?
Do you believe the Character judgment by blood type?   

So very popular and well known classification is like, here, 
[Blood Type A] Diligent
[Blood Type B]  Do things at one's own pace
[Blood Type AB] Not easily influenced
[Blood Type O] Laid back
（Very difficult to express in English because the blood type personality classification is unique and peculiar to Japanese culture.）  

Basically we Japanese are familiar with these kind of analysis.
And more analysis.... for example, 
"A man of type A and a woman of type B are good for each other."
"The couple of type AB and type O is a perfect match for marriage"

As for me, I'm a blood type O, so I wonder I am laid back....?

今日は、血液型と性格のお話です。
日本人は老若男女を問わず、本当に血液型の性格診断が大好きです♪
私は、血液型以外にも、誕生日とか名前とか、
とにかく占い全般にそれほど興味はないのですが、
初対面だろうが、ランチの場だろうが、飲み会の席だろうが、
とにかく血液型の話をして盛り上がっている日本人がとても多いんですよ (｡･ω･)ﾉﾞ

みなさんはどうですか(^･ω･^) ？
信じてますか(^･ω･^) ？

よく言われているのは、こういう分類でしょうか。
A型・・・真面目
B型・・・気まぐれ
AB型・・・変わり者
O型・・・おおらか

大雑把にはこういうのをよく聞きますが、
まだまだ深い診断と言いますか、考察といいますか、色々あるようですね。
恋愛や結婚などの相性なんかもありますし。
ちなみに私はO型なんですが、どうなんでしょうかね (^･ω･^)
ま、今日もリラックスして過ごしていきたいと思います♪

Superstition 迷信

Hello, I'm Shinya (*´∀`*)ﾉ 　

I was thinking about the topic for today, and I've come up with superstitions in Japan.
Here we go (｡･ω･)ﾉﾞ

As a matter of fact, I don't believe superstitions though, I introduce you some of them very popular here in Japan.

1. It's a lucky sign to find a stalk floating upright in your teacup. 

2. Putting a snake's cast-off skin in your wallet makes you rich.

3. If you lose your upper tooth, you're supposed to throw it somewhere underneath, and if you lose your lower tooth, you're supposed to throw it up onto the roof.

Superstitions and many of old beliefs are not based on scientific grounds, you know, but they are considered as a natural part of Japanese life and thought for sure.

What do you have any superstitions in your country (^･ω･^)?

私自身、それほど迷信を信じているわけではないんですが、いくつかご紹介してみましょう (｡･ω･)ﾉﾞ

1. 茶柱が立つといいことがある。

2. ヘビの抜け殻を財布に入れておくとお金が貯まる。

3. 歯が抜けたら、上の歯は縁の下、下の歯は屋根の上に投げる。

迷信にはもちろん科学的な根拠はありませんけど、日本人の生活や考えを反映して生まれた、これはこれで価値のある言い伝えですよね。

あなたの国にも何か面白い迷信はありますか (^･ω･^) ?

Trains 電車

Hello, I'm Shinya (*´∀`*)ﾉ 　

I think that I would like to talk about the transportation system, especially trains in Japan today. The Japanese train network system is extremely excellent. No matter where you are in Japan, you can go anywhere you want by means of trains. You can do without cars in your daily life when you are in big cities like Tokyo or Osaka (｡･ω･)ﾉﾞ

Especially in Tokyo, its train system is so complicated that even Japanese are very surprised at how complicated it is. Probably even people in Tokyo know the only specific line out of the large network system there.  

Another topic of the Japanese train system is concerned about its punctuality (ㅅ•᎑•)
The timetable has scheduled by the minute.
Since we Japanese grow accustomed to getting trains on time, and we'd be sometimes irritated if a train were delayed. And a conductor would announce the delay as soon as possible.

Although cars sometimes get stuck in a traffic jam, but you really can relay on trains to get to where you need to go on time. I think that the types of job in train systems are really demanding ฅ(^･ω･^)

By the way, this is not something limited to only Japan, in the past several years women-only train cars have introduced in many train lines to prevent molestation.
Actually groping isn't just limited to trains, so I think that the idea of women-only cars is just a band-aid solution (｡´•ㅅ•｡)

今日は日本の交通事情、特に電車をとりあげましょう。
日本の電車網はそれは素晴らしく、田舎でなければ電車だけでどこへでも出かけることができます。特に、東京や大阪などの都会では、車がなくても生活するのに全く困ることはないでしょう。

東京の電車網はあまりにも複雑で、日本人であっても自分が普段から使用しない路線のことは分からないほど縦横無尽に張り巡らされています。

日本の電車の特徴のもう1つは正確さでしょうね。
時刻表は分刻みのスケジュールです。
それに慣れてしまっている日本人は、1分2分遅れようものならイライラすることもあるくらいです。車掌さんも少しの遅れでもきちんとアナウンスします。

車のように交通渋滞に巻き込まれることがないので、時間を決めて移動する際にはとても便利なのですが、鉄道会社の方は本当に大変だなと感じますね。

そうそう、これは別に日本だけの話ではないですが、女性専用車両なんてのもいつの間にか定着していますよね。痴漢防止ということなんですが、痴漢は電車の中だけではないですし、あまり根本的な解決にはなっていないようにも思いますね (｡´•ㅅ•｡)

Couples 男女

Hello, I'm Shinya (*´∀`*)ﾉ 　

Today I would like to talk about recent trends of marriage in Japan.
Japanese people tend to get married at a later age in life these days, and the divorce rate is increasing actually (｡´•ㅅ•｡)

There're few people who got married in their 20s around me and that doesn't seem quite unusual. On the other hand many 40s have experience with divorce (｡´•ㅅ•｡)

Moreover some young adults say,
"Dating can be a hassle. " 
"Marriage could be annoying and bothering me."

Umm....(｡´•ㅅ•｡)

But recently spouses-huntings or marriage-huntings are kind of trend in Japan.
Actually some people are enthusiastic about searching for a marriage partner, and then they often consult with counselors at dating agencies.

I feel that Japanese don't hesitate to ask and answer some personal questions in casual conversations even when they're meeting new people, such as,

"How old are you (๑• v •๑)？ "
"Are you seeing anyone (๑• v •๑)？ "
"Are you married (๑• v •๑)？ "
"Do you have any kids (๑• v •๑)？"

How do you view those situations in Japan ?

今日は、日本の結婚事情のお話でもするといたしましょう。
昨今の日本では、晩婚化や離婚の増加などが傾向としてみられるようですね(｡´•ㅅ•｡)

男女ともに20代で結婚している人は、私のまわりでも珍しいように思いますし、
逆に40代ではバツイチの方が多いようにも思われますね(｡´•ㅅ•｡)
最近の20代の若者は恋愛は面倒だとか苦手だか、そんな声も聞こえてきますね(｡´•ㅅ•｡)

その一方で、婚活も一時期はやりましたし、結婚相談所に登録している人も多いのだとか。

日本人は、わりと恋愛や結婚の話にオープンなように思います。
初対面の人でも、仕事や趣味なんかの話をしたら、年齢も聞きますし、

「彼氏、彼女はいますか (๑• v •๑)？」
「ご結婚はされているんですか (๑• v •๑)？」
「子供さんはいますか (๑• v •๑)？」

なんて会話も普通に聞かれます。

海外の方にはどうのように映るんでしょう ?

さて、長くなってきたので、この話はまた機会を改めたいと思いま～す。

Tengu 天狗

Hello, I'm Shinya (*´∀`*)ﾉ 　

Today I would like to talk about an imaginary and mysterious creature in Japanese tradition or legend. That's what we call "Tengu".
Its face is extremely red , its nose is so long like Pinocchios' , and its appearance looks like "Yamabushi", say, people to the training in mountains.
It's very funny and humorous creature (๑^᎑^๑)

When it comes to Tengu, Kuramadera-Temple is well-known to Japanese people.
That is very famous for Kurama-Tengu, which lives in Kuramayama-Mountain.

It is said that Kurama-Tengu had taught a boy martial arts. And his name was "Ushiwakamaru" when he was young, later he was known as a very famous and charismatic military commander（"Busho" in Japanese）. The name is Minamotono-Yoshitsune.

By the way, Tengu is considered as a person who is self-conceit.
So in Japan, we sometimes say, "Tengu ni naruna（天狗になるな）", which stands for "Don't Be big-headed"

You might come across Tengu here in Japan....

今日は日本の伝承、伝説の生き物についてお話しましょう。
「天狗（てんぐ）」です。
天狗は、めっちゃ真っ赤な顔で、ピノキオみたいに鼻が長くて、山伏みたいな姿をしています。
とてもユーモラスな姿ですよね（笑）

天狗と言えば、京都にある鞍馬寺を思い出す日本人も多く、鞍馬天狗が有名です。
鞍馬天狗は、武術の達人で牛若丸（後の源義経）に稽古をつけたと言われていますね(๑^᎑^๑)

ところで、天狗と言えば慢心の象徴とされ、"うぬぼれるな"という意味で、"天狗になるな"とよく言いますね。

日本のどこかで、ばったり天狗に遭遇するかもしれませんね♪

Togetsukyo Bridge 渡月橋

Hello, I'm Shinya (*´∀`*)ﾉ 　

Today I'd like to tell you about good places to visit in Japan.
One of the best places I recommend you to go out for a walk is Kyoto.

This time I want to talk about The Togetsukyo Bridge
 (literally: "moon crossing bridge") in Kyoto (๑^᎑^๑)

The Togetsukyo Bridge, crossing the River Oi,  has been a landmark in Arashiyama District.

Arashiyama is a nationally-designated historic site and has a scenic beauty, like cherry blossoms and autumn leaves.

The bridge's span is 155 meters long and has a width of 11 meters .
It was originally born in the early Heian period, around the year of 848, but the current bridge was bulit in 1934.

We are sometimes surrounded by such a huge crowd here around the bride in spring or autumn, which is good seasons to visit here.

But you can really relax in Arashiyama, looking up to the whole sky and taking a breath of fresh air, and also just have a nice talk with your friends, sitting near the river.

You work hard, you study hard in your daily life and you need a chance to relax.
I strongly recommend you to visit here to relax in this autumn leaves' season coming soon.

日本の観光スポットと言えば、もちろん京都♪
今回は、京都は嵐山からおおくりします (๑^᎑^๑)

嵐山は、京都でも特に自然が豊かで、桜や紅葉が美しいことでよく知られています。
そんな嵐山の名所と言えば、大堰川にかかる渡月橋ですね♪

橋長155m、幅11mで、その起源は平安時代だそうですが、
現在の橋は昭和9年の建設とのこと。

観光シーズンはすんごい人だかりになる橋ですが、
大きな空や澄んだ空気を感じたり、川原でほっこりしたりと、
日頃忙しく勉強したり、仕事をしたら、ぜひここでリラックスしましょう (๑^᎑^๑)
これからの紅葉の季節、特にオススメですね♪

Nabe 鍋

Hi, Everyone.
Nice to meet you.
I'm Shinya from AMA in Japan (*´∀`*)ﾉ 　

I'd like to introduce JAPAN to you here in Japanese and English with photos (๑^᎑^๑)

Today, I want to talk about "Nabe" from Food Category to begin with.
Nabe is very popular here in Japan, a traditional Japanese style stew.

Now I say "stew", but actually it's a little difficult to translate Nabe into English.
Some people call it stew, soup or hotpot sometimes, but no one can get the image of "Nabe"from these words. I don't think that these words can cover the real meaning of Nabe.

The biggest difference between them is the way of eating, I suppose.
A soup or a stew is just served, it's just an individual serving.
But when we're eating Nabe, we are around the pot and we're all cooking it and sharing things, We really enjoy Nabe together (๑^᎑^๑)




This is very famous in Japan, especially in Kyoto. It's called Yu-Dofu

第1回目の今日は、日本の食文化をお伝えします。
「Nabe 鍋」です (๑^᎑^๑) 

鍋は、シチューやスープなんて訳されることもありますが、
鍋の意味を正確に伝え切れないので、鍋と言ったほうがいいように思うのですが、一番の違いは、食べ方ですね。

鍋は、一人一人に出されるのではなくて、
みんながお鍋の周りを囲んで、一緒に作って、一緒に楽しむのが鍋の醍醐味ですね(๑^᎑^๑) 

写真は、特に京都で有名な「湯豆腐」です♪
