今回は中国への渡航、そして現地の様子です。
内容よりも、受け答えのひと言に集中して覚えてみてください。



After Golden week ②

Eric: So... where exactly did you go in China?
Greg: Sichuan Chengdu. Located far deep inland of China.
E: How did you get there?
G: Airplane, of course. What else do you think I could choose?
E: Just wondered if there were any flights near your office?
Where is it by the way?
G: It's in south west of Chengdu city.
E: Is there a direct flight from Tokyo?
G: Nop, but ANA has a flight to Chengdu via some bigger cities.
I took the one via Shanghai which seemed the fastest.
E: How did you manage that in the Golden week!?
Must have been a last minute plan.
G: No problemo, bro. I flew by business class.
E: Oh yeah? Congratulations for your first time on business class.
G: Thanks. I am no more virgin as a businessman.
E: Hope you enjoyed the flight. Heard that the service is excellent on ANA.
G: No complains though the flight was packed!
E: No doubt. You should still thank for your luck finding a seat.
G: I'll say. You know the Shuangliu Airport is actually the sixth busiest airport in China.
E: Is that the name of the airport?
G: Right. Most of our products arrives there first in China.
E: Really? It must have been a tough situation when the earthquake hit Sichuan then.
G: Guess so. I don't know because I wasn't working for this then.
E: So, tell me about what you saw there.
G: You mean the city, or the sight of the earthquake?
E: Try both.
G: City is okay, you know, all mixed with new and chaotic streets.
E: Did you take any pics?
G: Some. I took more in Wenchuan where was near from the epicenter.
E: Did you? Are there still any debris left?
G: Are you kidding? It's almost exactly the same as it was in 2008.
E: Aren't they cleaning up?
G: Yes, but also they seem to have decided to preserve the sight.
E: That's great! So you get to see all those collapsed buildings and streets.
G: Exactly. There were bunch of tourists from all over the nation.
E: Well, I think it's a splendid idea for educational reason.
People would learn from the sight how devastating it was.
G: Guess that's merely one of the highest goals the Chinese government aimed.
E: What do you mean?
G: Their main goals are to show the world how they have rebuilt the land from devastation, and to make money in tourism for this area to create more jobs locally.
E: Wao. frog's ass, water tight, hu?

ｴﾘｯｸ　：で、正確には中国のどこに行ってたんだ？
ｸﾞﾚｯｸﾞ：四川の成都市。中国のかなり奥まった内陸部だよ。
ｴﾘｯｸ　：どうやって行ったんだい？
ｸﾞﾚｯｸﾞ：飛行機に決まってるじゃん。他に何が選べるんだよ。
ｴﾘｯｸ　：いやオフィス近くに行くようなフライトがあるのかと思って。
　　　　ところで(空港は）どこにあるの？
ｸﾞﾚｯｸﾞ：成都市の西南さ。
ｴﾘｯｸ　：東京から直行便ある？
ｸﾞﾚｯｸﾞ：いや。でもＡＮＡなら大都市経由のフライトがある。
　　　　オレは上海経由にした。最短時間だったから。
ｴﾘｯｸ　：ＧＷ中にどうやってそんなことできたんだい？
　　　　ギリギリだっただろ？
ｸﾞﾚｯｸﾞ：問題なしだ、兄弟！　ビジネスクラスで行ったもんね。
ｴﾘｯｸ　：マジで？初めてのビジネスクラスか、おめでとう！
ｸﾞﾚｯｸﾞ：サンクス。これでビジネスバージンじゃなくなった。
ｴﾘｯｸ　：フライト楽しかっただろう？ＡＮＡはサービスがいいそうだから。
ｸﾞﾚｯｸﾞ：ワガママは言わないよ。フライトは満席だったけど。
ｴﾘｯｸ　：そりょそうだろ。それでも席があっただけ感謝じゃないか。
ｸﾞﾚｯｸﾞ：そうだね。知ってる？雙流空港ってのは中国で6番目に客数が多い空港なんだ。
ｴﾘｯｸ　：それが空港の名前？
ｸﾞﾚｯｸﾞ：そう。うちの製品のほとんどが、中国ではそこに先に着くんだ。
ｴﾘｯｸ　：マジ？じゃあ四川で地震があったときは大変なことになったんじゃないか？
ｸﾞﾚｯｸﾞ：たぶんね。まだそこで働いてなかったからわからんけど。
ｴﾘｯｸ　：じゃ何見てきたか話してみ。
ｸﾞﾚｯｸﾞ：市内かい？それとも被災地かい？
ｴﾘｯｸ　：両方やってみ。
ｸﾞﾚｯｸﾞ：市内はまあフツウ。ほら、新しい建物と雑然とした町並み。
ｴﾘｯｸ　：写真は撮って来た？
ｸﾞﾚｯｸﾞ：何枚か。震源地に近い汶川県ではもっと撮ってきたよ。
ｴﾘｯｸ　：ホント？まだガレキとか残ってるの？
ｸﾞﾚｯｸﾞ：何いってるんだ？ほとんど2008年当時のままにしてあるよ。
ｴﾘｯｸ　：片付けないのかい？
ｸﾞﾚｯｸﾞ：やってるよ。だけど(当時の)景観も残すことにしたらしい。
ｴﾘｯｸ　：すごいな。じゃあ崩れた建物とか町も見れるんだ。
ｸﾞﾚｯｸﾞ：そのとおり。中国本土中からの観光客がわんさかいたよ。
ｴﾘｯｸ　：教育的にすごくいいアイデアだね、それって。
どんだけひどい状態だったか見た人たちに学べるだろうし。
ｸﾞﾚｯｸﾞ：それは中国政府が目指した高尚な目的のひとつにすぎない。
ｴﾘｯｸ　：どういう意味だい？
ｸﾞﾚｯｸﾞ：ほんとの目的はどうやって災害から復興したかを世界に見せつけるためさ。
　　　　そして観光業で稼ぎ、地元にもっと雇用を生み出そうとしてるんだ。
ｴﾘｯｸ　：わお。水も漏らさぬってやつだな～！
