It may seem ridiculous that we were so tough on ourselves for wining silver medal. But you train day in and day out to do that perfect skate. You want it so badly. And you think about it. I couldn't sleep last night, probably had like four or five hours of sleep last night. 'Cause I was just so busy thinking about those moments, those split second of moments that could have changed everything. Luckily I had people talked to. Luckily I have a girlfriend, or friend, or parents or coach to talk to help me through those moments. So that's number one. After that it's taking time for myself and reflecting on the amazing career I have had, how amazing skater I am. I can now finally say that I can close this chapter of my skating life and say I'm one of the best in history of figure skating. Many people have never achieved what I have achieved. It's tough. I don't know how I'm going to... I hope I can sleep better tonight. Maybe distracting myself by watching other people have success that would help me. Being with my friends, talking in the athlete lounge, laughing and having a great time that would help me to think about it. Like Brian said, it's hard. It's going to take years for sure to me to go to bed and not think about it, think about those split seconds that could have changed everything.
That was true. It was painful to watch...
-Hanyu fell twice. By the time the three-time world champion Patrick Chan hit the ice I'm assuming everybody in the rink thought it's his done deal. What happened and did not happen?
Tonight was sort of painful watching because so many mistakes throughout the whole competition. There is not one clean program in 24 skaters. And it came down to Patrick Chan. The gold medal was right there. He can afford probably two mistakes and still beat Yuzuru Hanyu.
