ＡＳＥＡＮ１０カ国の気持ち
インドネシア代表が言った言葉
2010年に開かれたASEAN会議に、韓国がオブザーバーで
出席していたとき、突然韓国代表が立ち上がって、
議題とは何の関係もない日本批判を始めた。
ＡＳＥＡＮ各国の代表はまたかと思い渋い顔をして聞いていたが
いつまで経っても終わる気配がなかったために、
ついにインドネシア代表が韓国代表の話をさえぎりこう言った。
韓国人はどうやらＡＳＥＡＮ諸国を見下しているようだ。
我々は確かになかなか発展できないでいる。
しかも、もし日本がそばにあったら
現在のようなＡＳＥＡＮではなかったはずだ。
日本が隣にあれば、どんな国家でも韓国程度の発展はできる。
韓国の成功は、１００％日本のお陰であって、
別に韓国が誇れるようなものではない。
韓国が恩を受けた日本人に感謝一つできない人達であることが
我々にはまったく理解できない。
我々は戦前に日本から受けた恩に今でも感謝している。
永遠に忘れることができないものだ。
その結果できたのが、今ここで開催している
ＡＳＥＡＮ首脳会議である。

South Korea attended 2010 ASEAN Summit as an observer. Suddenly, a representative of South Korea stood up and started criticizing Japan on topics that were not on agenda.
Representatives of ASEAN nations were disgusted. They listed to the Korean for a while, but quickly, they realized there would be no end to his speech. Finally, the representative from Indonesia interrupted the Korean.
I must say South Korea has very little respect to ASEAN nations. True, we are struggling to make progress. However, if Japan were among us, ASEAN would be better than where we are today. If Japan were with us, ANY nations could easily become another South Korea.
The success of your country is something that you benefited from Japan. You didn't achieve your prosperity by yourself. For this reason, there is nothing for you to be proud of.
South Korea received aids and support from Japan. Yet, South Korea can't show any appreciation to Japan. We would never know why.
We received support from Japan even before WWII, and we are still grateful for that. We MUST NOT forget that.
And, thanks to Japan, we are here today at the ASEAN Summit.
