I am going through a week of strength test phase in my gym training. During this week, workouts involve several tests to check my current strength to determine the load for the upcoming phases.
Load is less and workouts end quicker. I like it because I get to spare a bit of time for jogging on treadmill to relax.
By the way, one of my invention "the Aqua Cord"(heavy type) is back in stock at Wonder Years today. I came up with idea of the cord which stretches maximum of 12.5m and started manufacturing with the help of my friend Alex Sugai of Systube (that is why the Aqua Cord has both Wonder Years logo and Systube logo on).
Shortening time lag between your hand entry and catch is important in improving sprint events and resisted swim is re-evaluated today.
Many resistance cords are been available in the market, but most of them are either 25m long, or 5m long. 25m ones require swimming certain distance to feel the elasticity. Meanwhile, 5m ones are so short that your body goes vertical as soon as you push off the wall.
I wanted something that allows swimmers to work on streamlining off the wall yet it does not take too long to feel the resistance. Alex and I created the Aqua Cord then.
The Aqua Cord is great for sprint traing and increasing the feel for the water in pulling like other resistance cords. It actually does more though.
Resistance training with the Aqua Cord lets you swim for desired length of time without the turn. This would be extremely useful for swimmers to improve their long course swims in the short course pool.
If you try to swim continuously with 5m cords, the elasticity would get up to the level where you cannot maintain your body flat. The Aqua Cord, on the other hand, gives you freedom of where you would like to stay in the pool. You are able to keep your body flat and swim as long as you would like without hitting the wall.
The Aqua Cord provides more options in training, too, since you can use it even when you use the pool horizontally in the short course facility. You can try ultra short resisted/assisted swim training.
I am glad that it is back in stock since they have been back-ordered for a while. Alex and I agreeed to build stronger supply chain. The Aqua Cord will become easier to get and help more swimmers to enjoy improving.
