The NFL is at the midway point of the 2012 season, and with that, teams go through a bit of an evaluation period. Every team sets goals at the start of the season at this point, they see if they are on the road to achieving these goals. Certain teams like the Atlanta Falcons, Chicago Bears, Houston Texans and New York Giants seem to be on the right course. However, there are teams that have taken the wrong path. Usually the coach is to blame for steering them into the abyss. So with that, here are the coaches currently on the hot seat, and could be looking for work, if things don’t turn around soon.

Andy Reid Philadelphia Eagles

One of my favourite blogs on the blogosphere is Fire The Walrus. ?The creators of this fantastic blog, are completely dedicated in the dismissal of the Philadelphia Eagles head coach. The picture of Reid with tusks is absolutely priceless. They may get their wish this year. The Eagles were dubbed “The Dream Team” last year, but it has turned into a nightmare. Reid fired defensive coordinator Juan Castillo during the bye week, and the Eagles followed that up by getting ripped apart by the Falcons over the weekend. The Walrus has been the Eagles coach since 1999, and the Eagles for the most part have been competitive. However, with only one Super Bowl appearance, (they lost) various playoff heartbreaks, (home losses to Tampa Bay and Carolina in the NFC Championship games were devastating defeats) and soap operas (who can ever forget Donovan McNabb vs. Terrell Owens) it is time for Reid to go.

Norv Turner San Diego Chargers

Why does Norv Turner have a job? Why was he hired in the first place? His previous head coaching stints were lukewarm at best. Turner first was head coach of the Washington Redskins from 1994-2000. His best year was in 1999, when the Redskins won the NFC East and defeated the Detroit Lions in a first round playoff game. Other than that, mediocrity, nfl jersey shop. Turner went 49-59-1 before being let go following the 2000 season. Turner became head coach of the Oakland Raiders in 2004. He lasted only 2 season, going 9-23 before being sacked. When the San Diego Chargers came calling in 2007, Turner jumped at the chance. The Chargers were considered Super Bowl contenders, and Turner was expected to push them over the top. He came close in his first year, leading the Chargers to the AFC Championship game before falling to New England. The next two years, the Chargers made the playoffs, but lost in the divisional round each year. Since then, the Chargers have regressed. San Diego hasn’t made the playoffs since 2009, and with quarterback Philip Rivers throwing more interceptions than touchdowns, Charger fans are wondering how come a so-called offensive guru like Turner can’t get the attack going. Right now the Chargers are 3-4 and are coming off back to back losses to Denver and Cleveland. Both losses were excruciating for different reasons. The Chargers blew a 24 point lead against the Broncos on national television. Then they proceeded to lose by a point to the lowly Browns. Turner was lucky to survive last year. He probably won’t this year.

Marvin Lewis Cincinnati Bengals

First off, I must give credit to the Bengals head coach. He turned around the Bungles and made them respectable again. That is saying a lot with the idiotic Mike Brown as your owner, trying to discredit everything you do,cheap nfl jerseys. With that being said, Lewis might be on his last days as Bengals head coach. While Lewis has worked wonders in Cincinnati, the Bengals haven’t won a playoff game during his tenure, and making the playoffs this year is an iffy proposition. The Bengals are currently 3-4 and sit third in the AFC North. While quarterback Andy Dalton and receiver A.J. Green are terrific young players, the Bengals have struggled with consistency under Lewis. Brown isn’t the most patient man on earth and Lewis is somewhat lucky to still have a job. That may not last if the struggles continue for Cincinnati this season.

Jason Garrett Dallas Cowboys

No team is under more pressure than America’,nfl jersey;s Team. And there might be no job that is under more scrutiny than the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. Only two men, Tom Landry and Jimmy Johnson have managed the pressure and brought success to the Cowboys. Garrett has supposed to be the next one. Specifically chosen by GM and owner Jerry Jones, Garrett had the reputation for being an offensive genius. With quarterback Tony Romo, Garrett was supposed to lead the Cowboys to the promised land. Instead, the Cowboys are headed towards the outhouse. Garrett was the offensive coordinator from 2007 to 2010, as he led the Cowboys offence to put up record numbers. Since he took over the head coaching gig from Wade Phillips, Garrett has a decent record, going 16-15 with the Cowboys. However, decent isn’t good enough. In fact there have been many questions surrounding Garrett’s game management decisions. A clear example was earlier this season in a game against Baltimore, the Cowboys were driving down for the game winning field goal, cheap nfl nike jerseys. After a completed pass, the Cowboys rushed towards the line of scrimmage looking to either spike the ball or call a timeout. The Cowboys were confused in what to do as the clock kept ticking. Finally, after 2o seconds ran off the clock, the Cowboys called a timeout. They had to try a lengthy field goal, which they missed and ended up losing the game to the Ravens. Many blame Garrett for handling the late game situation very poorly. Jones isn’t a patient owner, and is demanding a Super Bowl victory. With the Cowboys sporting a 3-4 record, sitting 3 games back of the first place New York Giants, a playoff berth is in serious doubt. Garrett better not get too comfortable in Dallas.

Romeo Crennel Kansas City Chiefs

When Romeo Crennel took over the head coaching gig from the fired Todd Haley in 2011, the Kansas City Chiefs immediately responded by ending the undefeated run of the Green Bay Packers, posting a 19-14 upset victory. Chiefs fans had high hopes coming into the 2o12 season, after Crennel went 2-1 to end the 2011 season. Those hopes have been quickly dashed. The Chiefs have been dreadful this season, going 1-6 and tied for the worst record in the NFL with the Jacksonville Jaguars. In fact, the Chiefs have not led at all at any point in any game this year. Their only win so far was a come from behind overtime victory over the New Orleans Saints. Crennel carries a defensive pedigree, but the Chiefs defence has been somewhat offensive. Kansas City gives up an average of 29.9 points per game. The offence isn’,cheap jerseys;t much better as the Chiefs score only 17.1 points per game. Fans at Arrowhead Stadium have booed quarterback Matt Cassel relentlessly throughout the campaign. Crennel had a previous head coaching stint in Cleveland, going 24-40 with the Browns over four seasons. In other words, Crennel isn’t a good head coach. I’ll be surprised if he’s coaching the Chiefs next season.
