新東京国立劇場で「ア・ソルジャース・テイル」
プロデューサーの友人、ゲイリー・パルマンの誘いを受け、新東京国立劇場で「ア・ソルジャース・テイル」を鑑賞しました。あまりにも素晴らしかったので、２度も観に行きました。芝居の内容は、怪しいナイトクラブで繰り広げられるのですが、ラッキーな事に、客としてそのステージに座りました。物語は、一人の兵隊が里帰りの途中で鬼に出会い、この世の全ての物が手に入る本と引換に自分の大切なヴァイオリンを渡してしまいます。それが災いし、自分自身の大切な物全てを失ってしまうという悲しい結末が待っているのです。天才かつ感動的に演じたロイヤルバレエのスター「アダム・クーパー」映画スターの「ウィル・ケンプ」他、多彩な才能の持ち主「マシュー・ハート」と「ゼナイダ・ヤナウスキー」。芝居が終わって、自分自身の人生を改めて考えさせられてしまいました。今の生活に満足しなければいけないのだというメッセージがこのショーに込められています。ここ東京に、こんな傑作を届けてくれた事に感謝します！
Thanks to my Producer friend Gary Perlman, I was able to attend an amazing performance of A Soldiers Tale at the National Theater in Tokyo. The show was so fantastic, I went twice. We were very fortunate to be able to sit on the stage and act as patrons in the seedy nightclub where the performance took place. The Soldiers Tale tells the story of a soldier who meets the devil on his way home and trades his precious violin for a book that will give him all the riches in the world. In the end he gains the world and loses everything. The show was extremely moving and brilliantly performed. It featured Royal Ballet Star Adam Cooper, Film Star Will Kemp, the brilliant Matthew Hart and the superb Zenaida Yanowsky. You leave the show with your jaw on the floor and hopefully you have learned to be happy with what you have in life. Thanks again to Gary for bringing this little masterpiece to Tokyo .
