アメリカ北東部で猛吹雪、市民生活に大影響
アメリカ北東部は８日から９日にかけて猛吹雪に見舞われ、７０万戸が停電したほか、空の便で欠航が相次ぎました。
アメリカ北東部は、発達した低気圧の影響で８日午後から猛吹雪に見舞われました。コネティカット州で９５センチ、マサチューセッツ州ボストンでも最大で７６センチの積雪が観測されました。
ロイター通信によりますと、ニューヨーク州とコネティカット州で４人が転落や交通事故などで死亡、カナダでも３人が死亡したということです。
各地で空港の閉鎖が相次ぎ、およそ５３００便が欠航になったほか、およそ７０万戸が停電しました。また、マサチューセッツ州にある原発の外部電源が途絶え、原子炉が自動停止しましたが、安全性に問題はないということです。（10日05:09）

ニューヨーク（ＣＮＮ） 米北東部を襲った猛吹雪は９日までに収束の兆しを見せており、空港業務の一部などに再開の動きが出ている。当局によれば、これまでの死者数は９人となった。
ニューヨークやマサチューセッツなど各州では一時最大６３万５０００世帯が停電に見舞われたが、一部で復旧が進み、依然として電力供給が滞っているのは約４５万９０００世帯となっている。
吹雪のせいで５０００便以上が欠航となったが、ニューヨークなどの空港では業務再開の動きが出ている。ニューヨークの主要３空港は、サービスを限定しなが
らも、業務を再開した。ボストンのローガン空港では、少なくとも１本の滑走路が９日遅くに利用可能となり、１０日には飛行機が飛ぶとみられている。
マサチューセッツ、ロードアイランド各州の車両通行禁止は９日午後４時に解除されている。
当局によると、吹雪関連の死者は少なくとも９人。コネティカット州で５人、カナダで２人、ニューヨーク州とマサチューセッツ州で１人ずつとなっている。マサチューセッツ州ボストンでは１４歳の少年が一酸化炭素中毒で死亡した。
最も雪が降ったのはコネティカット州と見られ、州内の一部地域で約１００センチの降雪を観測した。
マサチューセッツ州プリマスでは９割の世帯が停電し、原子力発電所の電源が一時停止したものの、ただちに非常用発電機が作動した。

(TheWeatherSpace.com) - A strong blizzard will move through the North-Central Plains tonight, and into Minnesota on Sunday, bringing heavy snowfall rates and dangerous travel conditions.
Latest radar shows snow developing in Colorado and Wyoming as the surface low gains steam. The surface low is developing on the Central Kansas/Colorado border.
As the surface low ejects through the plains tonight, snow developing in a deformation band in Central/Northern Nebraska will bring snowfall rates of nearly two inches per hour, which will add up. The map embedded in this article has the amounts predicted in the area so check it out.
This will continue through South Dakota and into Minnesota on Sunday, bringing dangerous travel conditions there as well.
Wind gusts will be in excess of 40 mph across Nebraska and Southern South Dakota overnight tonight and into Sunday morning.

(TheWeatherSpace.com) - The Weather Channel thinks it is cool to name winter storms. They also claim to be the first to do so or come up with the idea of naming them before they hit metro areas. This is false.
Here at TheWeatherSpace.com Network, naming winter storms has happened for over 15 years . The Weather Channel decided to steal this novel idea and call it their own when it is not.
We've since stopped naming storms because the novelty was taken, but TWC needs to admit where the original idea came from and give credit to where it is due.
TheWeatherSpace.com does not endorse or respect TWC in any way, shape, or form and urges all not to use their names.
