月曜日の夜、古い友人が店をたたむということを聞いて、
千駄ヶ谷のベター・デイズというパニーニ屋さんに行ってきました。
開業してから10年間、今まで行く機会がなかなかなく、
お店に訪れたのは、この閉店の夜が最初で最後になってしまいました。。。
到着してみると、閉店を惜しむ常連さんたちが、
店内に入りきれず道路まで溢れていました。
営業時間はとっくに終了していて、
この時間はただただ入口を解放しているだけでした。
土曜日の営業時間が夕方５時まで、そして、
日曜日を定休日にするほどの主だった繁華街ではないのに、
これだけのお客さんに囲まれて、彼とその彼のお店の人気ぶりが伺えます。
これだけの人数に囲まれている彼を見て
カッコイイとも思いました。
これだけのお店を閉めるのは寂しい気もしますが、
新しい仕事で新たなスタートを切るための閉店ですので、
ここは「おめでとう」と言ったほうがいいのかな・・・なんて思いました。
