IRIOMOTE-JIMA (IRIOMOTE ISLAND) is the second largest island in the Okinawan Island Chain, located south of Ishigaki Island. It takes about 40minutes by ferry from Ishigaki.
西表島（いりおもてじま）は沖縄諸島で2番目に大きい島で、石垣島の南にあります。石垣島からフェリーで約40分です。
Nakama River Mangrove Cruise is one of the popular cruises in the island. It takes about 70minutes.

"Mangrove" is not the name of a specific plant, but a collective term to call plants in intertidal zone of tropics or semitropics.
「マングローブ」は特定の植物の名前ではなく、熱帯や亜熱帯の「潮間帯（ちょうかんたい）」といわれる地域に生息する植物の総称です。
That means mangrove grow both in fresh water and sea water.
ということは、マングローブは淡水と海水のあるところで生育するということですね。

Speaking of Iriomote-jima, it is famous for "Iriomote-yamaneko (Iriomote wild cat)."
西表島といえば、「イリオモテヤマネコ」で知られています。
Iriomote-yamaneko is designated as one of the endangered species in Japan. So you have to be careful when driving not to hit them.
イリオモテヤマネコは、国の絶滅危惧種（ぜつめつきぐしゅ）に指定されています。ですので、運転する時は気をつけなければいけません。
There are many wild animals in the island, and this side ditch is made shallow so that turtles can go across.
島にはたくさんの野生動物がいます。これはカメが渡れるように浅くつくってある側溝です。
