Happy brunch for peaceful weekend ;)
Having a day off that I eagerly awaited in these days! I enjoyed cocking and relaxing for a while. However, I still have a lot of things to do...
Anyway, my TOEFL challenge was completed. It gave me genuinely valuable experiences instead of incredibly hard days.
I'm going to mention about some tips for studying English, that a couple of native speakers who have an experience to teach English to non-native speakers, told me. Especially for me to keep remembering them ;) I hope to help you as well if you need.
#1 "Never translate!"
Needless to say, the first nessesary thing to learn languages is increase our vocabularies. We're apt to use dictionaries what translate English words to our native language, since it's easy to understand its meaning. However, it's difficult helping us to increase our English skills. It could've needed a time to figure words when we translate in our head, it means that it would've been difficult to speak fluently. Therefore, there're various nuance of meanings and usages between these languages. We should learn English words in English.
#2 "Write a journal"
It's simple and easy. Just write down about things that occurred everyday. It's a kind of practice of writing through the most familiar matters for us. And ask someone who are reliable native speaker to check it. Here's a notice, journals and diaries are different. Journal is about things that just happened in a day, whereas diary includes more emotional matters. It would be better to keep it secret if you want to write diaries ;)
#3 "Read a book, and summarize"
It suppose to be more complicate a bit than others. However, it could be fun, because we will choose our own favorite books as a theme. Every periods when we finished to read a chapter, we need to summarize it. It's better to use synonyms instead of the words in a book. And it's also better to make an outline and figure a important theme in your head, through reading it. It's very helpful practice for TOEFL reading tasks, and writing as well.
There are more tips, but it's going to be too long. I will try to write them later!
You know, I'm also still on my way to learn English. It might be long way... Keep doing my best!
Thank you for reading.
Have a good day!!
