Today is weekend, I ate one dorayaki, hahaha
Let's continue our talk, I want to share my experience in IELTS reading and wirting
(1)Reading
1. There are two factors which can determine our reading level: one is vocabulary, and the other is the ablity of comprehending long and difficult English sentences. What is the definition of long and difficult English sentence: the English sentence structure is very complex and difficult to understand. And how to sovle it? The most effective way is quickly identifying the subject, predicate, and object of a sentence, which are the main body of the sentence, because once the main body of the sentence is found, the other components of the sentence are used to modify(embellish) the main body of the sentence. In IELTS, TOEFL, things like that, they don't soley test our grammar, but they test it in sentences. So we should learn to analyze the components of sentences in our daily practice.And in an article, it is the long and difficult sentences that affect our reading efficiency.
2. The essence of reading and listening tests is synonymous substitution. What is a synonym substitution, the information that appears in the questions can be found in the text. So we have to be familiar with synonymy substitutions so that we can get a high score. We need to find synonyms for the answer in the original text.
3. vocabulary: When we memorize English words, we should know the roots and affixes. They are the basis of words, and in many cases, we can guess the meaning of words from their roots or affixes.
roots: mono- monoply, monolog
affixes: im- impossible, immoral ; non- nonparty , nonmetal; dis- disarm ,dislike ;
4.The three levels of reciting English words: 1 know a word 2 know the synonym of the word 3 know the antonym of the word
(2) Writing
1.Now let me talk about the standard structure of English writing,here is one IELTS writing question: Some people think that all university students should study whatever they like. Others believe that they should only be allowed to study subjects that will be useful in the future, such as those related to science and technology.
Discuss both views and give your opinion
(Cambridge IELTS 10 TEST2 WRITING TASK2)
2.First paragraph: Retell the question and express your opinion (1.full support, 2.partial support, we recommend partial support, because it is easier to come up with corresponding reasons and examples)
3.Body paragraph 1: Give an opinion (partial agreement, some people think that the university should encourage students to study the subjects that they are interested in ), give a reason( Because this policy can help to achieve students' potential to a large extent), give an example (reason and example are related. For example, Students who like math can become an exceptoonal researcher in the future, because the math is the foudation of science), give another reason (Besides, with the development of modern education , the labor force in the society is divided scientifically , thus the whole society can run smoothly like a well-functioning machine), give a hypothesis(If people paticipate in the similar or even same job, the socity resource and natural resource will be wasted)
4. Body paragraph 2: Give an opinion, give a reason, give an example, give another reason, give a hypothesis
5 There are several ways of argumentation: example argumentation, contrast argumentation, hypothesis argumentation. You can choose according to your own needs when writing a composition.
6. concluding paragraph: Give your opinion again, give your advice (optional)
7. Standard structure of the middle paragraph: give an opinion + give a reason + demonstrate the reason by examples (contrastive argument, causal argument, hypothetical argument), this structure is the same as the structure of speaking, so the reason we accumulated in speaking can be applied to writing(vice versa)
