"Discovery" and "Ingenuity"
What I want to do with photography is to take pictures that have never been seen before.
The key to this is "discovery" and "ingenuity".
My current themes of discovery are "the universe around us" and "art without an artist."
The "universe around us" means discovering the universe around us.
For example, this photo looks like a planet, but it is actually a quail egg.
Exploring the universe around me, I discovered this small planet.
This series is about finding the universe in everyday life that we normally don't notice.
The next photo shows paint marks that someone dropped while painting the wall.
On the road, abstract paintings were born, but since there is no intention to create a work of art, it can be called "art without an artist".
In this way, I am exploring the universe and art, changing my perspective in my own immediate surroundings.
Along with "discovery," "ingenuity" is also important. I have made various analog ingenuity in order to realize the image I want to capture.
For example, in the next photo, I used two mirrors to photograph the sweet potato.
I created new flowers from sweet potato skins, leaves, and roots that I grew in my window at home.
The next photo was taken at a Shibuya crossing using a camera shaking amplification device.
I developed this device to incorporate accident into a familiar scene.
The Soratama lens is a filter using a transparent sphere, with which we can capture a scene inside a transparent sphere floating in the air.
The key point of this filter is that it allows both the inside and outside of the ball to be photographed at the same time, with the inside and outside having their tops and bottoms inverted.
This filter has been commercialized and has enthusiasts all over the world.
My concept is to take photos that have never been seen before by means of familiar discoveries and money-saving innovations.
I publish the ideas I come up with in books, magazines, social networking sites, workshops, etc.
My mission is not just to take photos, but to convey to people how to enjoy photography.
