The Back Horn: 太陽の中の生活, Impressions

太陽の中の生活はThe Back Hornの新アルバム。前作のHeadphone Childrenに比べ、さらに音質は落ちている。しかも、Headphone childrenも音質がいいとはいい難かったのでかなりショック。とくにボーカルはひどい。人間プログラムの頃のあの独特的なリードシンガーの声はアルバムでは既に過去のものになってしまったのか。楽器の音もペラペラ。
"Taiyou no naka no seikatsu", is The Back Horn's latest album. Compared to "headphone Children", their previous release, the sound quality has gotten worse. And Headphone Children was not a good recording. Sigh*. The vocals are especially bad. It seems that the one of a kind voice during "Ningen Program" is a past memory. The instruments are also very two-dementional.

ただ、曲はかなり良い。「証明」「ホワイトノイズ」「ブラックホールバースディ」「浮世の波」「始めての呼吸で」等、さすがバックホーンといえる出来の良い曲が盛りだくさん。それ以外の曲もどれも良く、"詰め物"的な曲は存在しない。ボーカルの色づけがうまいATH-ES7で聴くと太陽の中の生活 は化けます。ほんとに。
However, the songs are good. The album is full of songs that can be expected from The Back Horn. Shomei, White Noise, Black Hole Birthday, Ukiyo no nami, Hajimete no Kokyude, are all awesome songs. I can say that none of the songs are just filler. "Taiyou no naka no seikatsu" morphs into another beast when listening from the ATH-ES7, which is adept at colourizing the vocals.

HARD-Fi: STARS OF CCTV, First Impressions

音は好き。だから買ったのだが。ライブはかなり熱いとおもう。しかし、しかし、、、
I liked the sound. So I bought it. I think this band will be a nice listened live. But, but, but,

音質がひどい。ワザとなのか、ただ編集がクソなのか分からないけど。数曲は中の下、それ以外はラジオにヘッドフォン繋げて聴いている気がする。。。
It sounds like absolute crap. I don't know if it's intentional or just plain dirt awful editing,, most sounds like if the headphones are connected to radio. A select few though listenable is still pretty bad.

The Arcade Fire [EP]: Impressions

2005年SummerSonicで一番感動したライブ、The Arcade FireのセルフタイトルEPアルバムを数週間前に購入。国内で売ってるって知らなかった。全体的に Funeralの一体感は無いけど、出来はすばらしいです。
また来日してぇ!
Bought The Arcade Fire's, which was the greatest act IMO in summer sonic 2005, self titled EP several weeks ago. Didn't know that it was on sale in Japan. Overall, it doesnt have the cohesiveness of Funeral, but it is a amazing EP.
#1: Old Flame
インパクトあるイントロと、アコーディオンを一番目立つところに持ってきて聴き手を引き付けるArcade Fireお得意の曲系。
Starting with an impactful intro, and puts the accordion full front just when the song is in its high point. Definate Arcade Fire style

#2: I'm Sleeping In A Submarine 

#3: No Cars Go 
このCDでダントツ一番好きな曲。結構シンプルな曲で (Rebellionも同じように）、3種類ぐらいのメローディラインの切り替えと「No Cars Go!」などの簡単なフレーズのシャウトで曲を成り立っている。で、ノリが良いわ良いわ。大好きです。
By far my most favorite song in this EP. It's a relatively simple song (Like rebellion), structured by using 3 different melody lines and shouts of simple phrases like "No Cars Go!". Its sucks you in. I love this song.

#4: The Woodlands National Anthem
ギター、ボーカル（両シンガー）、手拍子で成り立つキャッチーなメロディーライン。No Cars Goと違って乾いた音でのキャッチーな曲。
A catchy tune created by Guitars, vocals (both) and handclaps. Unlike No Cars Go, its a catchy but very dry sounding song.

#6: Headlights Looks Like DIamonds
The Arcade Fireの女性ボーカリストはボーカルをBjorkみたく、声を楽器みたいに使ってるのが特徴的。特にこの曲の後半にそれが顕著に現れる。タイトルのDiamondsはシロホンの音で表現しているのかな?
The female vocalist of The Arcade Fire uses her voice like an instrument, not unlike Bjork. This is especially prominent in the second half of this song. The "diamonds" is the sound of the xylophones?

#7: Vampire,Forest Fire
Vampire部分はちょっと暗すぎ（歌詞が。。。)
ForestFireはガシャガシャうるさくて音が分離できていない。Radioheadみたいなエレクトリカはこのバンドには似合わないと感じた。
Vamire, is a bit too dark.
ForestFire is too condenced sounding. Eletronica a la Radiohead is not for them.

ES7:After a Month Impressions

Well, its been about 4 weeks since I bought the ATH-ES7. I still havn't made a detailed comparision with the ATH-A900 which I just got back from a good friend. I'll get back to that later, I promise.
Anyway, here's my two cents:
ATH-ES7を購入して4週間ぐらい経ちました。まだ友人から返してもらったATH-A900との比較は行っていないのですが。。。今度やります。
で、インプレ：

Soundstage:
The biggest surprise, and we are talking portable here, is that the ES7 has an acual soundstage exists. All other portable headphones I owned: ATH-Pro700, Triports, HD25-1, ER-4p, has no soundstage whatsoever. Granted, its not very spacy, but soundstage does sound like it comes beyond the chassis.
音場：
音場が一応あるのに一番驚く。自分が所持したその他ポータブルヘッドフォン: ATH-Pro700, Triports, HD25-1, ER-4pは皆無だったので。決して広くは無いけど。

Bass:
The other surprise, especially the midbass. The midbass is VERY pronounced, almost as pronounced as the ATH-Pro700. It's a bit overwhelming when listening with my home setup. However, when on the road with the D-NE920 or the iPod, its a bit unnerving at first but my ears quickly adjusts. Fair warning though, I believe I'm a basshead. :p
低音：
もう一つの驚き、特に中低音が。ATH-Pro700並に中低音が前面に出てきている。家の環境ではちょっと強すぎた。ポータブルだとつけた瞬間は「わっ」と思うけど、すぐに慣れます。もともとコーユー低音好きだしね。

Highs: Like I said before, no sibilance. I confess that I don't know how to hear treble extention...Add this with the bass and percussions sounds very nice. Its quite punchy, fast, and enjoyable.
高音：
前にも書いたけど、サの耳障りさはなし。高音は全体的に抑えられている。高音の伸びは正直何を聞いたら分かるのかがわからん。。。

Mids: coloured to match vocals, will be my take on the mids. Vocals, I like it better than the ATH-A900.
中音： ボーカルが良く聴こえる用に色づけされている。ボーカルにいたってはATH-A900より気持ちよく聴ける。

So here's my conclusion, for Yen15000, this is an great Portable headphone, which gets more headtime then my previous favorite, the HD25-1.
結論としては、1万5000円としてはかなりお買い得、以前のメインであるHD25-1に変わってメインとなりそう

ソニーまじかよ！

パソコン(VAIO)やCLIEのドライバは入手不可能に近い、BluRayは(HD-DVDに比べても）ガチガチにDRMされまくり、[PCとの連携ソフト＝クソ使いづらい]、とアンチPCの旗本会社であるソニーがまたすばらしいことをやらかしています。SONY BMGが2005年に発売したCCCDは
-RootkitというWindowsのカーネルとCDデバイスドライバをハックするソフトを使用
-常時CPUとメモリを使用
-セキュリティーホールを空ける
-手動で案インストールするとCDが使えなくなる
ともう、下手なウイルス顔負けの凶悪なソフトをインストールするらしい。
まじですか！なんですかこれは！というかコレはどう考えても違法じゃないですか？

元から好きじゃないけど、もうありえない。告訴されまくってほしいね！

Sony, which is the leader of [Anti-PC] (PC (VAIO) and CLIE drivers are almost impossible to obtain, BluRay is DRM to the teeth (Even compared to the HD-DVD), its PC connection software is renowned for its hellish UI, the list goes on... ), has just one-upped themselves. Some of the CCCDs that the SONY BMG has sold in 2005 does the following things.
-Hacks Windows' Kernel and CD Device driver wih a Rootkit.
-constantly steals CPU cycles and memory
-may compromise the security the computer
-nukes the CD Drive if uninstalled by the user
-and installs without the consent of the user.
Holy fucking shit, this thing makes viruses look cute in comparsion.

Uhh, yeah, that goes the last vestige of sympathy I have for this damn company. I hope they get sued to death!

ただ！ただ、ソニーの上級ヘッドフォン、SA5000 と Qualia 010、はすばらしい名機です。いつかほしい。。。。 (SA1000, SA3000は買う価値なしだけど）。
However, the high end headphones SONY makes, the SA5000 and Qualia 010, are awesome cans. One day... (Although SA1000 and SA3000 are pretty crappy)

ATH-ES7: First Impressions

ATH-ES7を衝動買いしましたので非常に軽いインプレを。
I bought the ATH-ES7 on a whim so some quick impressions.



テカテカしてます。iPod 意識?
Shiny. Maybe concious of the iPod?

エージング前の即席インプレ：
-サ行のかすれはHD25より少ない。HD25-1はロック向きといってもサ行のかすれが目立つ場合が多々あったのが難点。[The Back Horn, 産声チェーンソー, #11:涙がこぼれたら 2:14あたりなど]で確認。
-低音の鳴りも思った以上に強い。 [ A Perfect Circle, Thirteenth Step, #1 The Package ] を聴くと、ベースラインは強調されているのに、ギターはされておらず、なにやら一体感に欠ける。エージングで改善されるといいけど。。。
-中音も強調されてる。[Death Cab for Cutie, Plans, #4: Different name for the same thing] で荒が顕著に。。
-遮音性はPro700, HD25, Triportの中で一番無い。唯一電車のアナウンスが聞えた。

Pre Aging Brief Impressions:
- Sibilance is more tamer than the HD25-1. The HD25-1, although considered to be a rock can, was often problematic. Checked with (The Back Horn, Ubugoe Chainsaw, #11 Namida Koboretara, around 2:14ish)
-This thing has more bass than I expected. When listening to [ A Perfect Circle, Thirteenth Step, #1 The Package ] the bass line is very pronounced, but, unlike the L3000 and Pro700, the guitar line isnt, which loses a sense of unity in the song. Hmm, I hope burn in will help this.
-The mids are pronounced. I could hear the problematic piano & vocals on [Death Cab for Cutie, Plans, #4: Different name for the same thing]
- Of the Pro700, HD25, Triport, lowest amount of isolation. Only can that I could hear the announcements in the train.

うーん、これはpro700完全に出番なくなるかも。。
Hmm, this is going to rob any headtime The Pro700 has right now..

Agh Crap! DHA3000 Discontinued

今朝DHA3000のお金を振り込んだら、夜に
備考： 取り寄せとなっておりましたATDHA3000ですが、こちらは生産完了の為、お取り寄せの手配をする事ができません。
だってさ。。。DACどうしよう。。

I wired the money for the DHA3000 this morning, and this came in the evening:
The ATDHA3000 which you have ordered has reached end of production, and can no longer be acquired.. (not a word for word translation)
Nuts. OK now what? (For a DAC)

Vienna Philharmonic @ Suntory Hall 05-08-15

エガッタ。
It was rad.

特に、休憩後は本領発揮！って感じ。
After the intermission, especially, the orch came out full force.

ただ、席がバックシートだったので、管楽器と打楽器が前面に出ていて。特に、ヒンデミットの第二楽章の冒頭にフルートのソロの時にトライアングルがフォルテシモの勢いで響きまくり。正直ツラカッタ。
However, because my seat was behind the orch, the brass and percussions were pushed forward. On Hindemith's second movement's opening, the Triangle was overbearing the Flute solo. Ouch. My Ears.

最後に：ヒンデミットの第一楽章、何度聴いてもドラクエっぽい。。。。
Lastly, Hindemith's first movement, well, just sound so "Dragon Quest". heh.

This week's homework

来週末はVienna Philharmonic の公演を聴きに行くんだけど、曲目はどれも知らねぇ。今週はずっと曲目の勉強です。
Going to go hear Vienna Philharmonic next weekend, and I dont know any of the music they are going to play. So I have lots of homework this week.

#4 Different Names for the Same Thing
ポータブル-> HD25から聴くと悪くないです。ドンシャリだからか、D-NE920の音質が悪いからか、荒がいい感じに隠されています
Hmm, its not that bad listening off a portable-> HD25. Maybe because the mids are recessed, or the D-NE920's sound quality is bad, the cracks are covered up nicely.
