To American people, birthdays are a day where we make someone feel special. It’s their special day.
On this day, that person deserves to be celebrated.
That’s why, like my friend, if someone says, “Oh, I’m not doing anything for my birthday”, a lot of Americans are shocked or we feel sad for that person.
I know it may seem weird or even rude to assume someone is sad and lonely for not celebrating their birthday. But many people think like this in the US. It’s just part of our culture.
