they actually did it.  they actually renovated the theater, and the last show i had in the old theater was before my 17th year anniversary as a theater fan.

this year i guess i was lucky enough to even win 3 shows, one of which is actually tonight.  no more physical tickets though, so screenshots will have to do.

the new theater is.. i don't know.. definitely way more high-tech than the old one, with all the led walls, the awesome red and gold motif, and all the trophies being displayed. the only thing i don't like about it is the autotune, and the one thing i HATE about it is the new overture (and i HATE it with a passion).  the shows have retained the same akb vibe though, so everything still feels just right.

i'm tempted to say i will miss the old theater, but technically speaking it never really went away or got replaced. just a new coat of paint i guess.  and the small tributes to the old theater are still there so i never really felt totally alienated when i came to see a show this year.

honestly, though, i was really tempted to just end my fandom the moment they remodeled the theater.  i felt like i have been a fan long enough.  i had a good few months to think about it, and let's just say i ended up with "why choose when you can have both" as my answer. the adventure continues i guess.

i did win the ultimate raffle of getting a piece of the old theater floor though. that one i am really really really (x100) thankful for. the old theater will always live in my memories, and a piece of it lives in a box under my tv stand.  i was so desparate to win that one that i was prepared to go to the auctions, but i ended up winning one so somewhere in some email servers i have proof that my name is tied to the piece of theater floor that i am holding.  i guess it's the closest thing to seeing my mvp plate again?

oh and they brought back acchan, takamina, kojiharu, and (sigh) sashihara for the 20th single. it's not like its their first time to come back (kwm/khm), but seeing the faces of the first gen members in an akb single feels nice, though up until last year we still had a 3rd gen in the group.

let's see what the future holds i guess.

aaaand, just 5 tickets to show for this year.  shows were definitely harder to win as new members started pouring in and actually resulted in good sales for akb48.  i am happy for them, and although that meant i had less chances to see theater shows, so be it.

with the graduation apocalypse over, i guess, the new members are performing well.  even the choice of their 19th gen members are for me on point.  not that the previous members were not though. err... yeah. its hard to enter these types of conversations as these will definitely only end in a fight so.. next topic..

the new looming threat is this "renewal" of the theater.  i really don't know what's going to happen, and frankly, i am scared as hell.  will we lose the theater that we have known for almost 2 (on___) decades?  i hope not, but graduate members showing up and signing walls just feels like it.  i have taken pics and taken all the remembrance that i think i need for now.  i just hope that when i write my anniv post next year, i won't be saying that i miss the theater and they destroyed everything, just as they had thrown away our mvp plates without any warning whatsoever.

spent my afternoon and evening in akihabara just to feel somehow close to the theater.  other than that, i think i don't really have much to say.  i hope i have more good news next year.  * crosses fingers *
