Damage Test
For both armors I used the same non-elemental equipment and same level and type of abilities, against little Leedle Colons.
IRA UP
ULTIMI RE-UP
Not much difference, really. This just confirms my suspicions that Ira will out-damage Ultimi after its final upgrade.
Regardless, the consensus is that Ultimi is stronger than Ira (for now), especially for gladiators.
For us minstrels, though, maybe it's best not to to use Raton/Almas xtals for only a few thousand more damage.
まとめ
There is also, of course, other armor to consider, like Dragon Mail re-upgrade (for autoskill and resistance), Hulam Ries re-upgrade (for physical penetration), and Order Bellow. I'll do another damage test for these armors in the future... maybe! (* ̄Oノ ̄*)

This new limited event is currently being held on Iruna.
There are many notable points about this event, but much of that information is recorded elsewhere.
So let's go over the bosses instead.
White Fox Lvl 350
Element: Water
Weakness: Wind
白狐 has a good amount of HP (about 9-9.5m, a little more than Ouvel I'd wager). There are 3 main "booms," upon each all party members are frozen:
1. Right when one party member attracts any amount of hate, all party members' MP drains to 0.
2. Towards around 50% HP, all party members' HP drains to 0.
3. Towards around 5% HP, all party members' MP drains to 0 again.
Thankfully, there is no debuff. However, the giant white circle surrounding the boss causes all those in it paralysis, dizziness, stun, and lethargy (so unless you're the tanker, stay out of it).
Because of the frequent MP drains, minstrel is terrific at White Fox. High wizards are also great because they can use imperial, but minstrel will do more damage with a DPS tank because wizards will be forced to MP each party member twice in 1 run.
Obvious party members for White Fox include: Gladiators, Assassins, Samurai, Snipers, Minstrels, Bishops, High Wizards.
If you want to use 2 minstrels your farm will be very fast.
Which means your bishop needs to be just as fast.
Once you've set up a strong team fitted with proper roles, your farms should be a breeze.
Kijimu Lvl 300
Element: Wind
Weakness: Earth
Although I wouldn't recommend either White Fox or Kijimu to lower levels, Kijimu is far more difficult than any boss fight we've encountered on the English version of Iruna.
Kijimu is difficult.
Seriously.
Aside from its massive HP(over 40m, confirmation of a more accurate estimation to follow), Kijimu can kill your tank in a matter of seconds. Your evasion does practically nothing to avoid it's extremely painful attacks (which include shell break and cross-fire).
Because the new skills are not released on the English servers for Iruna, our party arrangements will differ greatly from those you can see on the Japanese servers (mostly Zero Ray high wizards).
How does minstrel fare at Kijimu?
Painfully.
The hate you get from Kijimu is extremely difficult to avoid if your tanker keeps dying (which will often be the case). Of course, you can hide far away enough that your dragonewt connects but you have extremely little hate, but the distance is often difficult to obtain because of the shape of the map.
Which is why I believe your tanker is the most important member of your Kijimu party.
So if you're the tanker, DO NOT GO WITH DPS EQUIPMENT. (/TДT)/
I think the only jobs truly capable of tanking Kijimu without requiring ressurection spam (at this time) is likely samurai, paladin, gladiator, and enchanter (and perhaps beast knight).
An experienced bish (and possibly, a high level tank minstrel) who knows has enough HP & understands to use kreis to increase hate may also be another option.
Although your fight with Kijimu may take a couple minutes, revel in the glory of fighting it. It's fun and exciting.
Plus, you have the opportunity to obtain the highly coveted Kijimu Afro. 笑
Had to break it up into 2 videos:
My minstrel is finally capped.
Completely capped (kinda haha).
Her damage isn't half bad, even with 1 slot bows.
(Self buffs, no water drink)
(Self buffs + water drink)
ヾ(@°▽°@)ノ!
Because of my insane grinding these past few weeks, I've been able to unlock my minstrel's second Apostolia page.
Seeing that my first page is ATK-based, I decided to make my second page EVA-based.
While her first page completely ignores all defense...
▲cheltil
▲arick
▲mamonea
▲ouvel
▲enina
Her second page focuses on evasion...
▲cheltil
▲ouvel
▲[soon to be shelk]
▲mamonea
▲cerbera
(Technically I could take out cheltil for both setups but I want to wait for アーダカシュネ and a better al crysta so I don't have to waste empty crysta...)
So..
How is it?
It's great! (ノ゚ο゚)ノ
With 0 agility, and some points in GL (61), my minstrel has about 400 EVA without any songs:
With warrior:
With all 3 songs including warrior:
With all 3 songs including warrior plus Quick Turn:
With all 3 songs including warrior plus Quick Turn and Parring Bow:
Compared to normal attack AL setup:
But ... is this enough to truly go solo?
Keep in mind, my minstrel is not a solo-type. She has 0 agi and 0 vit. She generally only joins parties for difficult boss farms.
That being said, she can still die to chako, even with her second apostolia page. (´0ノ`*)
Even if she were AGI-based, I can't really imagine using her for a continuous solo farm session at Chapter 3+ bosses.. The risk of dying is simply too high.
Of course, though, I'm still testing different builds... so we'll see...
Anyhow...
Let's test her at interfike.
INTERFIKE
Granted, Interfike isn't considered as difficult a boss anymore.
But for a non-solo pure-DPS minstrel?
Even Chako is hard.
So let's do this!! (*゚ー゚)ゞ
Equipment/Skills
Illusion (ginami)(raton) ☆attack
Barbarotita (raton) ☆quick use
All-around, quick turn
Light Drink
Mini-bosses are pretty straight-forward. There are no debuffs, which make them somewhat easier than normal bosses you can find in Eternity Maze, the God Tower, or in MQ.
But... Interfike can stun, poison, paralyze, and blind you.
So, I used the applicable vaccines and went at it.
Without 2nd apost page & low apost stats:
After leveling & getting evasion-based apostolia page:
Not bad.
But it usually doesn't work.
I'll try again next time!
"Phrasing" boilerplate shortcuts have arrived!!
I
Everyone is busying setting up their shortcuts, leveling to hit the new level cap of 330, and preparing thei Shortcuts-For-Dummies (like me) YouTube videos.
And I'm joining in on the action.
The shortcuts give us a lot more freedom of what we can do. It allows minstrels to be a lot more creative with our equipment to and xtals and al. We don't have to use dex if we don't want to now.
And now I can finally use no quick cools while using dragonewt. Plus I can use a full drop set in boss fights. Plus I can buff with a full hate set. And finally...
I can heal myself.
Now.
As we know, all of minstrel's skills (at this point) take both MP and HP, except for humming.
As explained before here and on many other blogs and sites, each song will take a fair amount of HP from you--basically more % the lower your HP goes down unless your HP is 1.
It's tricky.
Let's look at the best ways to fix this problem.
1. Items
Items are the best way to recover HP mid-boss fight as a dragonewt spam-type minstrel.
There are several options you could choose from, but I believe these are the most practical:
- Thick Revita (M): 15% of max HP+1000
They are easy to farm quickly on jacobs and will heal quite a bit
- Revl(XL): 2000 HP
These are easy to obtain from the Dirty Gears Quest (Pilaneza, level 240+ only) and are better for you unless your HP is over about 9k (in which case, Thick Revita (M) is better)
-Fruit Revita: 10% of HP + 5% more if VIT is greater than or equal to 200
Fruit Revita can be obtained 5 at a time from the Underground Bailune merchant's Secure the Transport quest. It's not bad but not great unless your HP is greater than 20k.
- Regera (L)/Light Green Eggs: Both of these consumables won't help much in healing you, but they can help "revive" you
Of course, there are a lot of choices you can ultimately decide on. For example, watermelons from kijimu near lunage heals as much as revlx.
The problem with these other types are their inaccessibility. I say you should use the type that is readily available, easy and quick to farm, and heals sufficiently for those moments when you're bish can't heal you in time.
2. Humming
Many minstrels use Humming to recover HP...
but humming recovers very little, even if you have max INT.
So I wouldn't personally count on humming unless my HP is much less than 1k.
In the same way, I wouldn't recommend counting on only joy and sorrow, either, if you plan on doing anything other than buffing.
But ... later on I will post more on joy and sorrow. With what is currently out, joy and sorrow isn't very helpful but it can be with future updates.
3. Petite Heal
Without any INT, petite heal will only recover about 50-60 HP.
Which is even worse than Humming.
But!
We can stack up on Heal Reward gear in order to increase that amount to about 3.5k+
Before, I would not have recommended this, but now that we have "Phrases" boilerplate-shortcuts, this can actually work!
(Jade Rix isn't out yet so we have to deal with Eclaire instead

Current Equipment:
Eclaire
Leather Coat Re-upgraded
Miselatis (veltria)
Fossil Ring
This, without any xtals or ☆ gives u about 3.5k heal reward.
For xtals, Botaniga is your best bet but I'm simply too lazy to farm it.
This setup works great when soloing (or when your bishop is M.I.A.) and you don't have vampire or blow or if your vampire blow can't 1-shot the target.
4. Huge Cherry Blossom
Huge Cherry Blossom heals. a. lot. So if you're an up-close-and-personal minstrel (looking at you throw, nail, and swordy types), huge cherry blossom will help a lot.
But you'll need quite of bit of ☆Automatic in order to procure the drain from huge cherry blossom enough to live in boss fights.
Leveling spots are somewhat hard to come by in Iruna.
That is because the best exp/minute mobs are densely overcrowded with other levelers.
So, let's have a quick recap of the current favorite mobs for leveling characters 180+.
Megaroache
1. Fast moving
2. Medium-Slow aspd
3. Medium HP
4. Decent EXP
5. Fast spawn but can be crowded with ninjas
Nommar
1. Slow moving
2. Medium aspd
3. Medium HP (about 340k)
4. Decent EXP
5. Fast spawn and not crowded
6. Often long distances between each mob
7. Can use Dirty Gears dropped by nommars to turn in for quest EXP
Baum Warrior
1. Medium movement speed
2. Fast aspd
3. Medium HP
4. Decent EXP
5. Fast spawn and not crowded
6. Often long distances between each mob
Yarde
1. Slow floating(?)
2. Medium aspd
3. High HP (about 900k)
4. Good EXP
5. Lethal attack
6. Overpopulated with speed hackers, so a lot of bugs
7. Sometimes very slow to spawn
8. Can be done in conjunction with Secure the Transport quest
Jacobs
1. Medium movement speed
2. Medium-fast aspd
3. Low HP (about 60k)
4. Decent EXP only if you can gather many at a time or 1-shot them
5. Fast to spawn but overcrowded with solo bishops/botters
6. Drops Thick Revita (M) and AI that can be easily sold
Third Eye
1. Slow movement speed
2. Medium aspd
3. High HP (about 1m+)
4. Great EXP
5. Small spawning areas
6. High damage, absolute accuracy AOE attacks can wipe out a party
7. Drops are somewhat useful (MPCost, MP), Eyepatch
Potential Party Configurations for Third Eyes
Let's go over my personal favorite configurations at Third Eyes.
(The first character listed will be the main DPS)
1. Bishop x Bishop x Bishop x Minstrel
This one is my favorite.
Bishops' nemesis can attack any number of enemies, unlike high wizards. And because the area in which third eyes spawn is so small, nemesis range should be enough to capture at least 3 at a time. Plus, if you want, you can separate 1 bishop to the other side of the map to help increase mob regeneration.
Designating one bishop as a healer is key, however. Needless to say, it's best to assign this role to the bishop who has the least potential damage output.
PROS: Fun, can grab more than 3 mobs, somewhat fast
CONS: Dangerous
This party is extremely dangerous, but it's definitely fun.
2. Paladin x Bishop x Minstrel
This is the lazy man way to level.
Paladin gathers mobs with guardian then casts Knight Oath.
10 seconds later, you're done.
PROS: Don't have to pay that much attention, no need to attack unless you are paladin
CONS: Can be boring, slow
3. Gladiator x Gladiator x Bishop x Minstrel
This is the faster of the parties you can use at Third Eyes.
With the speed of the kills (2-3 seconds per mob), you face almost no danger as minstrel and bishop is not as busy.
The only problem with this is that spawns are lower and aoe is so small for gladiators that gathering the Third Eyes can be a big problem for continuous leveling.
PROS: very fast, safe
CONS: slow mob spawns
4. Gladiator x Minstrel x High Wizard x Bishop
This party is the most balanced, I believe. It's pretty fast and can be used for long term leveling sessions.
High wizard gathers and gladiator (or samurai, monk, assassin, sniper) + minstrel attack. The continuous use of Earthquake will help spawns regenerate more quickly and because each mob will require about 3-5 seconds, the high wizard will be able to cast Earthquake without being interrupted by "You failed to activate your skill..."
The issue here, however, is that if your DPS + the gladiator (or whatever)'s DPS is too low, the 3eyes will come and kill you if you are the minstrel.
Hate gear will help, but you will be losing a lot of potential DPS (for me it's about 50-60k per second lost).
PROS: facilitates fast+more spawns, relatively fast kills
CONS: can be dangerous with inexperienced bishop or minstrel
It's funny that soon after I posted my minstrel's hate set on this blog, the leveling spot with Third Eyes came out.
The gear works extremely well there (again, -140% hate is currently sufficient) so long as you keep a bit far away from the spawning area as the mobs do use a geo breaker aoe.
So, let's keep up the talk on efficient gears
Anyway, I have been tinkering with my bishop's set for quite a while now.
The main reason being, I hate switching sets on bishop.
It is really troublesome switching pages to switch gears, etc...
Using a DPS minstrel as my main character, I can understand that bishops are the most stressed in parties (resulting in many bishops leaving the class behind altogether).
So.
Let's try to lessen that stress.
ヾ(@°▽°@)ノ
New Setup
It balances MATK with skill delay and MP Cost, but can easily be switched out for a currone set or K.O. set.
Archbishop Sceptre [kagan] ☆Quick Cool
Exelis [rossam] ☆MPCost
Spirit Plume [ushilith] ☆Quick Cool
Accessory ☆Quick Cool
Argent Ring [mezz] ☆MPCost
This setup gives a total of max: 50% MATK, -85% MPCost (over -100% with Risparismo), and -7.2 skill delay.
Oo。。( ̄¬ ̄*)
The results are pretty nice.
This setup allows 1 second revelation and resurrection for those pesky bosses that debuff mid-fight and gives the bishop the freedom to avoid switching equipment to rebuff without giving up too much loss in Heal.
Plus, with risparismo, you can cast all skills at 1 mp.
I really enjoy this set in particular because of the balance it will give you, allowing you as the bishop to enjoy stress-free farms.
Alternatively, you can use:
Archbishop Sceptre [kagan] ☆Quick Cool
Tentacion [rossam] ☆MPCost
Spirit Plume [rossam] ☆Quick Cool
Accessory ☆Quick Cool
Argent Ring [mezz] ☆MPCost
For a total of -7.2 skill delay, 42%matk, and -95%mpcost.
Alternative Heal/Drop/K.O. Setup
Alternatively, you can easily switch out (generally, without even having to move your ☆abilities):
For Heal
A.scepter fiona
exelis moldus
Snow Earmuff ushilith
Medical ring mezz (although the difference will be negligible)
For Drops
Heal Staff currone
Exelis currone
Crown Hat currone
jar of greed ☆quick cool
For Stun Bosses
Heal Staff zant
Exelis zant
Montel colliet zant
Accessory ☆quick cool
Argent Ring ☆quick cool
For a total of -2.5 K.O. time
If you need more -K.O. time for certain bosses, you will need iron armor upgrade/zant instead of exelis zant and you will have to use ☆quick cool on all your equipment.
Alternative Bright Heal Setup
Another problem I've been trying to fix with bishop is Hate, especially from Bright Heal.
Unless you decide to go with a high range setup (dunkelheit, gadave, volt orb, etc), then us bishops must learn to control our own hate.
Thankfully, having researched the problem already with my minstrel, the hate set for bishop isn't too difficult.
Simply switch out:
Exelis beezlebub ☆gentleness
Crown Hat arick ☆gentleness
Ring of Illusion ☆gentleness
This gives you a total of -140% hate without interfering with your skill delay and allowing you to still give a decent heal.
You could, alternatively, use lieb tail (-30% hate, +12% heal), but you will quickly realize that you need to make up for the lost skill delay in other areas. In which case, you need something like:
Heal Staff beezlebub ☆quick cool
Tentaction beezlebub ☆gentleness
Lieb Tail ushilith ☆gentleness
Accessory ☆quick cool
Argent Ring mezzaluna ☆quick cool
for a total of: -140% hate, +42% heal, and -7.3 skill delay with maelrieru and cheltil.
Which is great, but will require more stuff (and moving around in shortcuts)... which isn't exactly stress-free.
Let me know what you think ( ̄▽ ̄)=3
A familiar problem to most minstrels is Hate.
Up until recently, hate has not been much of a problem from non-tanker minstrels in English Iruna.
This is because most minstrels in English Iruna are pure support types and only spam buff songs at greater than 1 second intervals.
But with the advent of Song Lore 3 and the capability of singing 4 buff songs at one time, most English minstrels will be forced to switch up their stats and equipment in order to sing the 4 songs within the 30 second buffing period.
Now, as we all know, minstrel song buffs create a LOT of hate. If you sing them at 1 second intervals + also spam Dragonewt for DPS, that hate bar will be going crazy (if not now, then certainly with 4 songs).
Presently, because we have not yet obtained the ability to use quick shortcuts, we have no practical way of switching delay/hate sets for DPS sets within a reasonable amount of time to accommodate fast farms.
But we aren't expecting Song Lore 3 until late this year. So why worry about this right now?
Looking to the future, let's think about the types of hate sets we should count on using, especially before those things become more expensive! I did not include any upgrades that are not currently out ^-^

Blue Crystal Ring (production): -10% hate
Equipment Review: There are plenty of different types of equipment you could choose from to lower hate. A lot of them, however increase/decrease HP/MP, which will be annoying for you in the long run. This is why I only recommend some of them... see below.
AL crysta
Death Chils: -15% hate

Lv5: Hate -25%
Current Set
Even though we minstrels will need plenty of -% hate, we also need to keep up that - delay in order to be able to spam our buff songs. Some bosses require more than 1 second delay so we need even more than that sometimes, too.
Balancing hate and delay could be tricky.
But, if you have overcapped dex like me, you won't really need that many new things to create 1 second delay.
About -6 seconds is sufficient in gear to spam 1 second songs.
Which means you won't need much hate items to obtain over -100% hate.
Currently, my future hate/skill delay set consists of:
OdiumIII [beezlebub] ☆Gentleness4 = -100% hate
Tentacion [metalbrow] ☆Quick Cool1 = -3.1 delay
Crown Hat [Arick] ☆Gentleness2 = -45% hate, -1.5 delay
Accessory ☆Quick Cool = -.6 delay
Ring of Illusion = -20% hate
Cheltil = -1 delay
(Once the quick shortcuts come out, I will probably switch the ☆ on the additional and accessory to increase DPS and lower hate).
In total, this set allows for -165% hate and -6.2 delay.
Even with -145% I don't grab hate from a bishop.
But with -165%... I can't grab hate from anyone, even if I spam only Life Song during a skill debuff for a boss.
As you will notice, OdiumIII is the best weapon for - hate. But there is no reason to spend more spina on a 2s Odium or Death Chils, etc. Because abilities alone can get you the - hate you need, you really only need 2 new equipment. If you don't want to farm abilities, you could opt for sunglasses + odium + beelzebub + arick (-150%) but I recommend balancing your skill delay instead.
Other minstrels who don't have as much dex will be required to invest in more skill delay. Borrowing from グリ父様, about -160% is the minimum hate required to spam 4 one second songs in boss fights to avoid aggro.
I would recommend something like:
Violafar [beelzebub] ☆quick cool = -2 delay, -55% hate
Tentacion [metalbrow] ☆quick cool = -3.1 delay
Montel Colliet [arick] ☆quick cool = -1.8 delay, -35% hate
Accessory ☆gentleness5 = -25% hate
Ring of Illusion ☆gentleness4 = -50% hate
Maelrieru = -.5 delay
Cheltil = -1 delay
This gives the 0 dex minstrel -165% hate and -8.4 delay (near 1 second songs).
You could switch some stuff around, maybe get a Death Chils (and sacrifice some DPS) and switch one gentleness ability with quick cool to get the coveted -9 delay but I wouldn't recommend it...
EDIT:
So there was this predicament I had with DPS minstrel: baum warriors.
As I've written before, I usually tried to equip the highest def/mdef/hp gear in order to help gather the baums in a double hw party.
This, however, is extremely tiring.
What can we do instead?
Well, we could use dragonewt in between casting buffs. But the problem with that was hate.
From trial and error, I have determined that you need approximately -140% hate in order to cast 3 buff songs and continuously use Dragonewt.
This way, you don't even have to move. All you have to do is press 4 buttons continuously (6 if you have to change equipment to spam buffs). With all your shortcuts on one window, this is much easier than actively watching your screen and making sure you are gathering mobs.
But... this scenario works best with 1 high physical DPS (gladiator, samurai, sniper, monk, and to a lesser extent, assassin) in your party. Otherwise, the -140% hate gear you have equipped will seriously not do enough damage to make up for all the attention you will be demanding from your bishop.
To give you a clearer picture, my minstrel re-stat so that she has 300 points in EXP, IgR, and IgT. This leaves only about 340 points in STR, as well as 300 in CRT and DEX.
Her equipment included:
OdiumIII (beezlebub) ☆gentleness
Ira upgraded (dorry) ☆str
Crown hat (arick) ☆gentleness
Adamantite Arrow (beezlenoid) ☆dex
With this set up and low stat distribution, my minstrel does only about 50k per dragonewt (which is well over 100% less than my usual DPS) with Dream, Passion, and Wisdom.
However, combined with a hw (about 15k dragonewt), bishop (about 5k), and your physical DPS member (which can range from 90k-200k+), each dragonewt still does about 160k-260k per hit.
This will be just as fast as a 2 hw 1 bish 1 min party (albeit more intensive for minstrel).
Few notes, however, on this setup.
1. Dragonewt only attacks the mob targeted by one of your party members (including you) that is also closest to you.
This means you, as the minstrel, should probably stay away from your hw, who will need to keep spamming Earthquake to gather mobs.
2. Dragonewt only uses as many pt members dmg as needed to destroy the mob.
This means if you see the familiar green Dragonewt light only surround 1-2 other party members, don't worry. Nothing is wrong. Continue what you were doing.
3. If you stand next to someone who is attacking a baum right next to you, you will get hit.
So, even if you have no hate, standing right next to your attacking teammates is probably not a good idea!
My samurai is now level 220 and has gained the skill shippu jinrai!
Borrowing again from RaraRiri様, I use the following equipment to elongate my shippu jinrai as much as possible:
DimIV (int+7)
Shushiwa reupgraded (seele saugaII)
Farfalla (int+7)
Orichal ring
This gives me a total of 2 minutes for shippu jinrai (as opposed to 5 seconds if I use the skill with my normal equipment).
