He could have taken the bunny layup in Jacksonville.
He could have come back as a local hero to rescue a downinthe dumps franchise. And even if the Jacksonville Jaguars struggled with Tebow under center, he would have gotten a Hall Pass.
The team is still a few puzzle pieces away from serious contention. And even if Tebow had failed, the blame game would have fallen to the front office for taking such a risk on a quarterback who has yet to prove he can run a conventional NFL offense.

The big question looms over the NFL after Manning bid a tearful farewell to the Indianapolis Colts after 14 magnificent seasons. OK, it was only 13 since he struggled during his rookie year, but still, hats off to Manning and the Colts for all the great memories he gave all fans, not just those who worship horseshoes.
The Colts did the prudent thing. They would have been stupid to honor Manning a $28 million option _ especially for a panthersnflofficialshop.com guy still recovering from four neck surgeries in less than two years.
But somebody is going to pay big money.

Kudos to new Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shahid Khan.
He has the guts to say what a lot of people _ including myself _ have said about the Jaguars passing up Tim Tebow in the 2010 NFL Draft.
Would Khan do a redo on Tebow if he had the choice?
"100 percent I would have," Khan told WOKV this week. "Absolutely. . . . Obviously the Rams drafted Sam Bradford, and I was talking to [former Jacksonville owner] Wayne [Weaver] then on what they ought to do.
"I should have an offline conversation with you, OK? I'm going to absolutely talk your ear off. Some of the stuff might not be politically correct, but I share your sentiment. I think, when is the next time Jacksonville is going to have an athlete like Tim Tebow?"
"I don't want to get into 20/20 hindsight, and God help us, the draft record has not been the best with the Jaguars. out there think that Blaine Gabbert is the answer for the Jags?
