David “Scooter” Bass, our Senior Community Manager, was in the communications helm, ensuring that everybody was updated on what was going on. Here’s his assume the WildStar Gold stress test:
For our first stress test, the Community team stood a few commitments we made to ourselves (and the tension testers):
Setting proper expectations. A great number of gamers are used to the usual “STRESS TEST WEEKEND WOOOOOO!” hype, along with the problem was we required to do an actual stress test… one where we kept adding increasingly more players until something broke making sure that we could see where our weaknesses were. We did a great deal of communication about this beforehand, and it seemed to work pretty much… a lot of active stress testers were knowledgeable that things just weren't gonna work, and weren’t too bummed out whenever they didn’t. I’m sure the commitment of the next beta invite to the who suffer the pain of the unpleasantness helped too…
Updating the city regularly. It is tough if you’ve got people in three offices in the united states tracking issues, but we wished to commit, at the very least, to posting every half-hour (if not more often) through an update. More often than not, these were pretty basic updates of “Still no updates, but individuals are looking into it!” but that resolve forpersistance to constantly keeping communication with individuals, especially during what became a frustrating gameplay experience, 's what we're feeling really creates strong communication between players and the team.
