Austin software developers continue to crack the code for success.
Business is booming for local software developers and the 2013 Austin Business Journal list of software developers supports that. Firms reported higher staff numbers and there are a record number of newcomers — 10 — to the list this year that either didn’t crack the top 25, or didn’t respond in the past. Altogether the top 25 firms on the 2013 list represent 1,036 software developers compared with 936 last year. The threshold for making the top 25 went from four local developers to eight.
The most notable rise in rankings goes to Ultra Electronics Advanced Tactical Systems Inc. which snagged second place. It ramped up developers from 62 to 109 due to a large contract award and more contracts in the pipeline, company officials said.
Other notables,
such as Accruent LLC, added 23 local developers, SailPoint Technologies
added 17 and Headspring added 13. Reasons for growth are attributed to
new products or increased marketing efforts.
