BMC Software Inc. (Nasdaq: BMC) is turning heads in the private equity buyout world again, Bloomberg reports, citing unnamed sources.
Anonymous sources told Bloomberg that two major private equity firms, New York-based Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. (NYSE: KKR) and Fort Worth-based TPG Capital LP, have in private talks expressed an interest in the Houston corporate software developer. BMC has not officially begun the process to seek a buyer, Bloomberg reports.
Last year, the software company ended a long proxy battle with a shareholder that had argued BMC should put itself up for sale.
The shareholder, New York hedge fund Elliott Associates LP, has a standstill agreement with BMC that is set to expire on March 23, and that has driven some renewed interest from the private equity firms, Bloomberg reports.
