Winter break

Hi again! Today, I would like to tell you about my Winter break. Firstly, I went to Okinawa with my family. Our destination spot was Ishgaki island. Okinawa was a little cold during those days but it was warmer than where I live. During our stay in Ishigaki island, we went to many places. The streets of Okinawa are a lot different to where I live but still unique in its own way. The city of Ishigaki island were also very interesting. Like if you go to a certain area in Japan, for example, Kyoto, they sell things that relate to Kyoto like Yatuhashi and little dolls for gifts. It was the same way for Okinawa except Okinawa has so many famous stuff like the instrument, Sanshin, and the two little animal kind of thing, Shisa. One of my most favourite places was when my family and I went to Taketomi island. Taketomi island was a lot more like the Okinawa I had in my head. The streets were sandy and walls were made out of old coral. There were tours for people to rent a bike and tour around Taketomi island and you could also have a tour for going on a cart with a cow pulling it. (Both for 1000¥) My family and I wanted to tour our self around so we hired bikes. Our first stop was a beach where you can get star shaped sand (Hoshino-suna) My little sister was enjoying herself so much she got lots of sand. Next, we went to a little park. Cats were all over the place. Next we went to eat lunch and went back to Ishigaki island. Some nights later, we went to a restaurant that had people dancing and playing music. This restaurant was very unique in many ways. One way is because the people were so nice. It was a very warm restaurant and my little sister even got asked if she could dance with them, but my little sister was to shy to dance so she said no. The food there was also delicious. Ishigaki steak is very good so if any of you go to Ishigaki island, then you have to eat Ishigaki steak. But also this restaurant had interesting dishes too. For example at the restaurant there was a dish that was tofu but marinated in Awamori the sake. This dish had a very interesting flavor. It was okay though. While the dish was being served, the server explained the history of the dish. It was said to be that in the old times, only royalty could only eat this dish. A few days after that we had to leave. I had such a good time in Okinawa that I could never forget it. After we got home, we had to go to Nagano to pick up our pet cat Who-chan and our pet dog Toby. In Nagano my father sent my mother, sister, and me to Nagano. During our stay in Nagano we stayed at my grandmothers house. My grandmothers house is in the country side of Nagano. One thing that was great about being there was we got to go skiing often. Now I can ski pretty well but I still go a bit to fast so I still need to learn how to stop. My grandmother works at the ski place so we get a discount. My grandmother works in a ski place called Panorama. If any of you guys want to go snow boarding or skiing, I recommend this place, Panorama. I hope you learned a lot about what I did on the Winter holidays, though I didn't write every thing like (this is true) I ate 3~4 bags of potato chips. 今日は私が冬休み中何したかをおしえたいとおもいます。まず最初に私と私の家族は沖縄に行ってきました。沖縄で、石垣島と言う島に行ってきました。私は沖縄にはじめについた時私はすぐこれにきずきました。沖縄の町とかは今私が住んでいるとこと全然ちがいました。私のお気に入りは竹富島です。竹富島の道路は砂がしいてあって、家の塀は珊瑚でできていました。私たち家族は自転車を借りて星の砂がある海岸へ行ったり、お昼ごはんを食べたりしました。とても楽しかったです。
夕方には石垣島へもどって、その夜はとても楽しいレストランへ行きました。そこでは、泡盛につけた豆腐や、石垣牛の料理を頼みました。とてもおいしかったです。そこでは三線の演奏があったり、それにあわせてウエイトレスの人が踊ったりしていて、その人が私の妹に一緒に踊ろうと言ったのですが、妹は恥ずかしがって踊りませんでした。とても楽しい、いい人たちがいっぱいいるなと思いました。
沖縄から帰ってきて、その後、おばあちゃんがすんでいる長野へ行きました。ながのではスキーをしたり、たくさんポテトチップスを食べて、気持ち悪くなったりしました。また行きたいです。
