There are many 8 million gods in Kyoto.
The main God of Kamigamo Shrine is the thunder.
Also, Kamo family members who had ruled over Kyoto over 1300 years are enshrined.
In the precincts, more gods are enshrined.
A lot of festivals are held every month to pray for the peace of the people at this Shrine.
One of the three biggest festivals in Kyoto is the Aoi Festival in May.
This shrine is going with the Shimogamo Shrine that worships the mother of the thunder.
The thunder stormed in Ko-yama (mountain).
This triangular sand represents Ko-yama.
Spring water springs from Ko-yama.
Ceremonies will be held at this river in the summer excheper.
The spring water in Ko-yama is famous water.
You can drink as well as cleanse your hands.
I will bring a bottle when I go to visit Kamigamo shrine.
加茂別雷神社は上賀茂神社とも呼ばれる京都で最古の神社の
1つです。
平安京の遷都の前から、京都を治めてきた加茂氏の先祖を
お祀りするとともに、加茂別雷大神をはじめとするたくさんの
八百万の神さまたちがお祀りされています。
京都の三大祭りの葵祭も、加茂別雷大神のお母さんの玉依比売を
お祀りする加茂御祖神社(下鴨神社)とともに執り行っています。
夏の大祓では、境内の川でも神事が行われています。
加茂別雷大神が降臨した神山からは湧水が湧き出ており、手水や
飲料に用いられています。
