Back in 2003, the city of Munich announced its plans to modify from Microsoft buy microsoft software online to Linux on 14,000 PCs which have been under usage at municipal government. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer flew to Munich to meet the mayor to reverse their decision. But they declined Steve Ballmer's request and completed their approach in December 2013. The sad news is that the end customers had been not so happy with Linux plus the government was also not happy along with the price savings it offered when compared to Home windows.

Right now, TechRepublic reported that Munich is planning to go back to Microsoft cheap office 2010 and Office on its PCs. As per the report commissioned by existing mayor Dieter Reiter, they have started off a task to make Home windows 10 and Microsoft Business readily available to employees as a choice when they choose their Computer. If majority with the people liked Home windows over Linux, they will investigate whether it will make economic sense to continue applying Linux as a client operating procedure.

The city's human resources department (POR) is particularly critical of LiMux, saying that considering the fact that 2006 when the POR commenced using LiMux and OpenOffice, later switching to LibreOffice, that "the efficiency and productivity in the POR-supported workplaces has decreased noticeably" - referencing crashes, screen and printing errors.

"Even 10 years after the start in the LiMuX migration, the consumers and users from the POR are dissatisfied," says the letter, claiming that, even soon after updates, LiMux and LibreOffice are "far behind the existing technological choices of established standard solutions".
