Lorde Outs Stalker Photog, How Vogue‘s Social Editor Got the Gig, and Nylon‘s New Merger

Over the weekend, Lorde outed the picture and name of the photographer she claims is stalking her. She tweeted Simon Runting’s picture and name, as well as a link to his facebook page, saying “this should not be an accepted standard for young women or anyone in this industry…i refuse to stay complicit and i refuse to stay passive about men systematically subjecting me to extreme fear.” In response to criticism for not accepting the media frenzy that comes with fame, she tweeted, “i understand that this comes with the territory. i do not understand why I should be complacent.”

Sorry, plebes. Vogue’s social editor, Chloe Malle (Candace Bergen’s daughter) got the gig without following Anna Wintour’s rules. At breakfast at the Lambs Club, Malle told the New York Post, “There’s this whole sort of interview culture with Anna. You’re supposed to never wear black. I wore black. She asks you what you like to do in your free time. So I answered truthfully and said I like to sleep and cook.” Malle, who will edit Vogue’s Met Gala special edition, has worked in Ethiopia as a medical assistant, and avoided acting because it “wasn’t intellectual enough.”

Expect a side of advertorial with your Nylon now. Diversis Capital has purchased Nylon magazine and will merge it with FashionIndie.com, a site that the firm also recently purchased. “We shocked everyone because we’re combining a profitable fashion magazine with a profitable fashion Internet company,” says Joe Mohen, the new chief executive who founded theelection.com. The site will move into the magazine’s Soho HQ.

Unbearable date? There’s an app, and jewelry for that. Just tap your Guardian Angel bracelet or necklace, and your phone will ring so you can have a completely fake conversation and get out of there. It helps to reference something you’re looking forward to and practice looks of horror in the mirror for this to seem legit.

Meet the fashion design student who turned Bell’s palsy into an award- winning collection. Julia Wollner channeled her two-year struggle with the nerve disorder to create a collection of dresses with huge shapes and organza that turned the facial exercises Wollner’s physical therapist recommended into textiles.

Forget street style. Vogue sent models in Met Gala-worthy gowns in subways and hailing cabs to see if anyone one would notice. They did. When you show up at a hot dog stand in a ball gown, evidently an Instagram frenzy ensues.

Tyra Banks may have been rejected from the Victoria’s Secret television special last December. A source says she’s outraged. “Tyra’s feelings were hurt because the excuse she was given is that the audience likes to see the newest models, not the ‘veterans,’ on the runway during the VS TV show,” said a source.
