Christie's Watch Shop is selling an excellent Commando that has an engraving involved back that

reads: "W.E. RAE / Editor / 0L-51-71." I think that the "0" is actually an http://www.syrauto.co.uk/tag-heuer-replica-uk.html "O" and after a quick search, I believe that the watch was for William E. Rae, the Editor of Outdoor Life (hence the "OL") beginning in 1951.

According to one report in Field & Stream, Rae retired in 1972, so it is hard to say whether this watch was simply a 20-year gift or retirement gift from his staff or employer, or simply a gift to himself. But, whatever the story is, it seems fitting that this could have been an Outdoor Life editor's watch.

Movado chronographs are increasing in value as http://www.syrauto.co.uk/panerai-replica-uk.html people begin to realize their high build quality and unusual, but great, movements. This steel version has the squiggly minute and hour register hands sometimes called "kris" hands after the unusual Javanese bladed weapons.

If the pushers look familiar, it is because they are the same style that is on the Patek Philippe 1463. (The cases were made by the same manufacturer.)

I have not seen photos of the inside of the case back, but it presumably should have an "FB" stamp, which is the maker's mark for Taubert & Fils. The Movado in-house movement, in this case the M95, was designed so that the chronograph module could be removed separately. The movement is unique among vintage chronograph movements because of that feature, which also made it thicker than alternatives http://www.syrauto.co.uk/rolex-replica-uk.html. (Note that the M95 used here is the three-register version – there is also a two-register M95 with just running seconds and minutes.)
