ヤンゴンに住んでいるのですが、なんと「大阪王将」がすぐ近くにできました。いやぁ、これは嬉しい。味もそのままです。ただ宗教上の問題か、餃子を頼むと「Pork or Chicken?」と聞かれます。ところ変われば餃子も変わる。でもチキンはチキンでうまかったです。
さて今日はこの曲。New Yorkを感じる曲です。
この曲はBillboard誌で1982年12月に3週連続で最高6位を記録しました。イギリスのArtistです。この時代のイギリスというとニューロマンティック、ニューウェイブが主流ですが、彼はそれとはちょっと路線が違います。
とても洗練されていておしゃれな曲です。一切ギターが使われていないのも特徴。Album Jacketの影響もあり、New York、特に夜のNew Yorkを感じさせる曲だと思います。私的にNew Yorkを感じさせるArtistにLou ReedやDonald Fagen、Billy Joelがいるのですが、彼もその一人かな。
Jacketもセンス抜群です。壁に飾りたいくらい :-)
どこにいてもNew Yorkを感じられるので、まぁ、聴いてみてくださいな。

I’m living in Yangon, but famous Japanese restaurant named Osaka Osho has come by my condominium. My dream comes true. This restaurant is serving a dumpling called Gyoza in Japanese. In Japan, they serve a pork dumpling only. Religious reason? Chicken dumpling is also good taste.

This song got No.6 on Billboard magazine in December 1982. He is British however I can not feel New Romantic or New Wave flavor.
So accomplished song. No guitar was played in this song.You may be able to feel New York atmosphere, especially New York in night. For me, Lou Reed and Donald Fagen do not only make me feel New York, but Joe also.
Album art is also excellent. I would like to display on the wall.
