Whooo... I was thinking about posting this several days ago. It's about my brother's wedding a year ago. I am really happy on the wedding, so I think I will keep that sweet memories on here. Besides, this is my first time see the whole wedding ritual. After all this time, I only attend to wedding party. Now let me share my experience. Here I go.
This is Indonesian wedding culture. FYI Indonesian has many cultures. I am from Makassar, so this is wedding culture of Makassar from Bugis Ethnic.
In Makassar, we have some ritual to do. One day before Akad, we do a ritual called Mappassili. That ritual is beginning with cutting a few strands of hair of the groom.

Oh, Look! There are my brother, my mother, and the Ustad who lead the ritual. The groom must hold a young coconut. Why? Sorry I don't know it. Maybe I should go and ask that Ustad

After cutting hair, the groom must eat Baje. Glutinous rice that cooked with palm sugar. You can see it on a plate which look like brown rice. Yum!

Don't forget the drink water before you get choked.
See the coconut? He must keep holding it. That's how he could't eat and drink by himself. Why? Let's just call it's the tradition.

Next ritual is splashing water from a griddle to the body of the groom. Not the whole body, but just around shoulder, head, and back. And the water is splash using two kind of leaves. The green small leaves, and the big red leaves

Next ritual is take a wash. This whole Mappasili ritual intended for clean the body and the soul of the groom. For blessing marriage life.
Let's pour, pour, and pour the water. It's 7.00 in the morning. Feel freezing ya brother? Hahaha.
The whole ritual is kind of boring, isn't it? But you don't know. All steps of this ritual is accompanied with traditional music instrument.

Here it is. The music players. We could hear a sound of traditional drum, flute, and lute in Bugis typical melody. What? You can't hear? Of course you can't! It's just a photo (・ω・)
Okay. Let's count it as the first story. There still others ritual. Because the wedding is not end yet, is it? Hohoho. I'll make the next post ASAP. See ya! (^O^)/
