Cultivating Professionalism in Hospitality Management
Program Description: Incorporating both theory and decades of successful practical experience in Hospitality abroad and here in Japan - across multiple brands such as Pan Pacific, Four Seasons, Sheraton, Westin, Hilton, Rosewood, Aston, Tokyu, Hyatt, and Intercontinental Hotels & Resorts; a small group of volunteers has come together in conjunction with Josai University Educational Corporation and created F.U.N. – the Future Universal Network of Hospitality Professionals. Our goal is to prepare and develop current and future hospitality professionals to more effectively compete and succeed in an increasingly globalized competitive environment. 「Cultivating Professionalism in Hospitality Management」 is the basis for a long and successful career in Hospitality Management here in Japan or wherever the candidate’s career aspirations take him/her.
Instructor(s): Veteran volunteer executives including currently standing and past President(s), Vice President, Regional Director, General Manager, Managing Director, Controller, Human Resources and Training Directors; spanning three continents and multiple cultures and operating companies such as: Pan Pacific Hotel & Resorts, Tokyu Hotels, Four Seasons, Rosewood, Hilton, Westin, Sheraton, Aston, Intercontinental, Hyatt.
Course Objective: To achieve emotional Intelligence (EI), visionary leadership, self-confidence, and self-directed management skills. To enhance understanding through hands-on, situational problem-solving workshops helping to broaden and enrich ongoing practical experience while providing multiple perspectives, points-of-view, considerations, and outcomes. Understand and implement new management tools, networking opportunities, and techniques already in practice by successful hospitality professionals around the world.

1. Summary of Lecture Series
1)Length: 1 year commencing April, 2011 through March, 2012 covering the equivalent of 50 weeks of classroom and practical studies
2)Frequency: ① Once each week for two hours per session
Period 1: Theory PM 18:20 ~ 19:50
Period 2: Case Study PM 20:00 ~ 21:30
② 50 Weeks Total (First Half: 15 wks, Second Half: 15 wks
Independent study 20 wks equivalent)
3)Certification: F.U.N., Josai University Educational Foundation Accreditation and Certification of Achievement
4)Curriculum: American Hotel and Lodging Association – Education Institute (AHLEI) preparatory training for Certified Hospitality Administrator qualification
• Theoretical Curriculum: Finance, Revenue Management and Retention, Staffing, Training, Budgeting, Credo, Corporate Culture, Ethics, Emotional Intelligence, Leadership training
• Practical Curriculum: Case Studies, Situational Analysis, workshops and Break-out sessions; Best Practices, SOP’s, and departmental operations
