Thursday September 5, 2013 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe with Mike Kellett and David Bromley officiating. She was a member of Whites Ferry Road Church of Christ. Tom Meachum officiating. She was the eldest of seven children and the last surviving member of her family. Majorie married John Dudley "Dut" Hopson and lived in Franklin Parish for 48 years where they raised their Brandon Gibson Elite Jersey family, farmed, and did upholstery work. During WWII, she conducted a street car in New Orleans and ferried soldiers. After "Dut" passed away, she moved to West Monroe where she lived with her daughter for 22 years. Majorie resided at the Landmark Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in West Monroe, LA in her last year. She was a member of the Edgewood Baptist Church. Mom was a caring and loving person, and a fine Christian woman. Thomas McKinney Meachum of Easley, South Carolina; daughterinlaw, Elouise Roberts Hopson. Thursday at the chapel of Griffin Funeral Home in West Monroe with ministers, Werner Aswell and Jerry Whitman officiating. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow services at Liberty Baptist Church in Calhoun, LA. Robert was a maintenance supervisor for LA Corrugated. Rob loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Homesville Baptist Church in Downsville, LA. Rob had a love for people and loved children. He was a dedicated father and loved his children beyond measure. He once said he would have a house full of children if he could. His wife and children were his life. He liked art and drawing. He loved to feed the deer and he had a great appreciation for wildlife especially the bear that came around his house. He had a strong faith and knew he was "going home". She wed William Cicero Kelley, Jr. in 1946 and lived most of her adult life in West Monroe. Kelley passed away peacefully into eternity at the age of 84 on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at St. Francis Medical Center. She is survived by two daughters, Margaret Davis (William) of Destrehan and Ella Kelley Bagayoko (Diola) of Baton Rouge; one son, William C. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Trenton Baptist Church in West Monroe.

Jack Elwood RutledgeMr. Jack Elwood Rutledge, age 90, passed away August 13, 2013, in his sleep, in Elizabethtown, KY. Born in Meridian, MS, and knowing Country Singer Jimmie Rodgers as "Uncle Jimmie", his family moved to Monroe, LA when he was 3. Interested in going to "summer camp" he and his friends decided to talk to the recruiter. He was a WWII vet, who enlisted in the Louisiana Army National Guard in 1940, trained at Ft. Bliss, El Paso, TX, was stationed in Iceland for 18 months (where the farmers wouldn't let him meet their daughters), went ashore on Utah Beach on D+12, as NCO of a Battery in the 494th AAA Gun Battalion, he participated in the defense of Antwerp from V1attacks (he also saw his first jet airplane as it strafed his unit), and was discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1945. He returned to his home in Monroe, LA, and in 1946 married Evelyn Earline Greer. They built the house they lived in for almost 60 years a room at a time as they could save to buy the materials. He was a machinist until he retired 25 years ago, after 46 years with Motor Supply Co. Jack and Earline attended Memorial United Methodist Church in Monroe. Jack's hobbies were furniture restoration and wood working, singing and performing in community events, and telling jokes. C. Rutledge and Sarah Catherine Ethridge Rutledge; two brothers, Henry R. Mann and W. B. Mann and two sisters, Doris R. Turner and Virginia R. Drum, NY, and James Ridlon, who works in Elizabethtown, KY. Pam teaches Middle School at Ft. Knox, KY, and Bill is a retired Lt. Colonel, JA, USAR , and an Army civilian attorney at Ft. Knox. He is also survived by a sister, Ida B. at Memorial United Methodist Church. "Bob" Robert Shanas, age 65, are scheduled for 10:00 AM Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Dalyn Helbling officiating. Interment will follow in Bonita Cemetery, Bonita, LA under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday evening at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Shanas, a consultant for Gorilla Axle and an owner of Westside Auto Supply, passed away Monday, September 2, Brandon Gibson Authentic Jersey 2013 in Monroe, LA. He was a member of Bastrop First Church of God. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved playing his guitar, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his granddaughters. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Humphreys Shanas; sons, Jason Shanas and wife Summer of Monroe, LA, Kyle Shanas and wife Misty of Mer Rouge, LA; sister, Charlene Davis of Monroe, LA; brother, James Shanas of Monroe, LA; and granddaughters, Lauren and Taylor Shanas. Serving as pallbearers will be Ronald Hopkins, Lonnie Wayne Blackwell, Louie Thomas, Jimmy Long, Bobby Knickerbocker, and Ronnie Harper. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Watts, Herman Hattaway, Dwain Humphreys, Gale Rogers, Doyle Hindmon, Dr. Carter Cox, Jr., and Ricky Boone. Memorials may be made to Bastrop First Church of God.
