He is most famous for playing an overweight preteen in the Eighties film Stand By Me.
But Jerry O'Connell seems determined to shake off the vestiges of his younger alter ego.

The father-of-two was seen standing outside next to a pool, his hair wet as he thirstily drank from a cold bottle of water.
The actor, who is married to Rebecca Romijn, was filming a scene for his new CBS comedy series, due for release in the fall.
After Carter (Chris Smith) is left at the altar, he moves into a short-term rental apartment where he and three divorced men become pals as they search for new love.
Jerry plays Stuart, who is hiding his assets until his second divorce is done and dusted.
The series also stars Tony Shalhoub of Monk fame, who is a four-time divorcee and considers himself popular with the ladies.
Kal Penn also stars as a man who was caught by his wife having an affair.
Jerry told Us Weekly earlier this month that he has to stay in shape for the series.
'They've
got me taking my shirt off all the time, so I had to re-up my gym
membership and sort of watch what I eat.
'Also, having kids sort of keeps
you running around all the time,' said the star, who is father to
four-year-old twins, Dolly and Charlie.
'I
have one very lazy daughter, so I'm always carrying her around—and
she's close to 50 pounds.
'It's called the lazy child workout. I'm going
to make a DVD. It's going to be the next P90X.'
'I don't use a trainer,' he added. 'We're saving for college, so there will be no extra expenditures.
Even paying for a gym membership is annoying. I'd rather do a prison workout at home.'
