年末年始、田舎へ帰省した。
最初は２．３人で飲むつもりが、わらわらと１０人ほど高校の同期が集まった。
焼酎を片手にくだらない昔話をあーでもないこーでもないと話しているうちに、すぐに夜は更けた。
うとうと、ぼけーっとしながら友人達を見ていると、当時良く聞いていた曲を思い出した。
Green Dayは本来パンク・バンドで、平たく言うとウルサイ曲が多かったので、
当時のアルバムでもこの静かな曲は印象的だった。
当時は和訳がネットで簡単に探せなかったから、
英和辞書を片手に地道に１行ずつ訳したりしていた。
あの頃自分がめげずに訳せたのは、根拠もなく今の自分に必要な歌だって思ったからだろう。それから、この曲の長さが短いことか。
当時から１０年ちょっと経った今も、多くの事がumpredictableだし、end is rightっていつか思えたらいいなーなんて考えながら過ごす毎日なのだ。
