My name is Yoshiki Toyoda. I am from Japan, Yokohama. My major is Aviation System Management operation. I am studying Aviation in University of Nebraska at Kearney. I am junior and I have FAA private pilot license and I am training 50 hour cross country. I also have about 120 hours fight time. When I was 1 years old, I went to Okinawa, Japan for travel and in flight, one of the pilot showed me cockpit and I saw beautiful sky. I can't forget that sky view and I want to work in sky and stay in sky so I aim at Airline pilot. I want to see my blog people who really want to be pilot, and think to study in USA. In my blog, my purpose is to introduce student pilot life through my experience.
In Kearney, there are about 100 Japanese students and 50 percent of Japanese are studying aviation. We are training in Kearney airport where it takes 15 minutes from university by car. Flight training is usually not every day. Student can choose flight date and time so if you want to fly every day you can fly but during semester, we have to study aviation knowledge or general study so actually we can't fly everyday actually, after flight training, everyone will get tired. Many student pilots stay in Kearney in summer time and do flight training every day because in USA, summer vacation is about three months and weather is usually nice.
I will write about one of the local flight training day. When I have local flight training, I wake up 3 hour before flight training time and eat something and check weather. Almost all student pilot go to airport 30 minutes before flight training time and check weather again and check airplane. We check fuel, oil, airplane damage and so on. After check and if we don't have something problem, we can fly. In Kearney airport, there are two Runways which are Runway 36-18 and Runway31-13 and Kearney aviation center has 3 Cessna 172, 1 Piper Arrow, and Piper Aztec. Around Kearney airport, there is not many traffics, no high buildings, and no air traffic controller so Kearney is really nice place to train. In local flight training, we learn many things with instructor. For example, steep turn, stall, and emergency maneuver. After come back airport, student pilot review flight with instructor in airport lounge and go back home and sleep or rest little bit and review by myself and remember.
I think student pilot have to study every day and keep health so pilot should not drink alcohol too much and smoke a cigarette so I think people who like to study aviation and weather is competent to work as pilot. You need to patient many things so if you don't want to do that or you want to play, you should give up to become pilot. Pilot is really cool but they immolate many things and student pilot should keep remember that you will have so many responsibilities. If you want to be airline pilot, you will have more than 100 passengers life and you have to fly safely and save passenger life. To become pilot is really difficult but if you really want to become pilot, I think you should try. Pilot is really cool and worthwhile job.
