Received a birthday present from a teacher today. Very surprised that she actually bought something for me because my birthday happens to be the same as her daughter. She gave me a hime-mamori (handphone strap charm), small cute card and some fruits candy... The so-called princess-charm is to be able to find/meet a perfect boyfriend... Haha... cute

She's the funniest teacher among the others... Always cracking jokes...

So far I've received three gifts.

A pretty cup from my classmate, the present from Mizushima sensei and birthday card from Jocelyn...

Waiting for her hand-made gift which will only arrive earliest by the end of next week?

First time to receive so many birthday greetings on Facebook...totally surprised! Haha...

Anyway, my family is arriving tomorrow...

I will definitely request a present from my brother!!! Will make him buy something for me haha...

The present that I treated myself this year was a tray of 10pc nigiri sushi from supermarket and Odango!

A little pathetic but haha I do treat myself well at least once a month anyway so it doesn't matter~ Sometimes a clothing from Uniqlo or lots of snacks!!! But gotta stop myself from buying snacks for a while... Think I ate too much already... very sinful~ 食べ過ぎちゃったな~

One month has passed and we're going to complete "Minna no Nihongo I"by this Friday.

Moving on to "Minna no Nihongo II", finally!!! (=⌒▽⌒=)

Did our first composition in class last week... and there will be more to come... sianz...

So here's my composition... It's about my mountain hiking trip.

Turns out that the "Eight Sword Mountain" is one of the difficult mountains to climb... as commented by the teacher.

Felt kena cheated by the Taiwan friend...haha

Surprised that I managed to write till the last column of the composition paper... just nice...

It kinda sounds stupid, but I wrote just for the sake of handing in by the end of the lesson which was about an hour.

Still haven't received my first phone bills and water bills... kinda worried... SG one is so punctual~

Gas bill was so shocking... three times more than the electric bill... Faint~

Have to start switching on my 'saving money' mode...

6th day of the Golden Week and the weather is getting warmer about 17°C in the noon... The thought of getting a refrigerator from second hand shop has been on my mind for quite some time... Can I survive through summer without a refrigerator??? Will make a trip down to the second hand shop again on Thursday, hopefully the one-door fridge is still there.

For the past 5 days, I’d only gone out twice. First, to the “Eight-swords Mountain” climbing/hiking and went to the “Historical Village of Hokkaido” yesterday.

My first experience of mountain climbing was both fun and scary. The way to mountain entrance was about 15-20mins walk from the bus stop. Along the way, spotted a few farms but were all not in business due to the season. The area looked pretty deserted. Like those deserted town in horror movies...haha.

When we made our way to the entrance, the gate was locked. Only for vehicles as I spotted a smaller entrance on the side, otherwise our trip would be wasted. There was no man-made pathway so we could only make our way based on the trails of the old foot marks. The trails was not easy, some parts were really steep and damp. Towards the top, the trails were covered with snow which means there were also hidden holes or traps which was the main reason where we decided to stop going further and the sky had also started to turn a little cloudier... The feeling at the ‘top’ was really great...exhilarating. But when the thought of going hits me, I started to feel a little scared... haha... Had to rely on a stick! On the way down from the snowy paths I was almost always on the sitting position with my hands on the snow... very pathetic... until I got a stick to balance my weight while getting down the steep slopes. Took double the time to get down...

It was a great workout... managed to took a few nice shot. The only regret was didn’t get to see the view at the top of the mountain. My canvas shoes were totally ruined with the mud but I managed to get it cleaned on the next day with lots of effort in scrubbing off the dirt! Had to wait till May 27th before my other pair of walking shoes will arrive...

...along with the food and snacks from Singapore... Missing the spicy food already...... Right now I can only rely on the Thai Sweet Chilli sauce bought from Daiso~ Japanese food is nice but not for everyday meal... So far I have only spent on the Katsu don (normal: 390yen; mini: 300yen), Sake don (mini: 300yen), Bentou sets (280yen), Gyuudon (390yen)... Haven’t tried the famous Ramen yet...

The trip to Historical Village & Museum of Hokkaido was educational. I don’t think I will go to these places myself. It was interesting to see the old buildings & artifacts and learned a little history.

Yesterday was also my first time in Muji since my arrival. I found a few food products from Singapore! Like Chicken Rice sauce... haha... and bak kut teh... someone mentioned to me a few days earlier only... Spotted another shop selling imported goods. I saw a Singapore brand "Asian Gourmet" and some USA products. It was really expensive almost double the price in SG... I think will only buy when I’m really desperate...

I’ll leave the tomorrow for study... I haven’t touched the books since the start of the break...haha...

Practising my futsuutai... haha... that's all for now.

Already making a list of "Places to go with Joc".... Hahahahahaha....cos right now only her visit is confirmed!

Finally got some time to blog recent events...

I had my first simple test on oral, dictation & vocab/grammar. Got back the test result today and I was surprised to get 99/100!

I thought I made some mistakes during the oral test, lucky the teacher gave me full marks...hehe... She's the teacher who had lived in Singapore for about 2 or 3 years but that was around year 2000. A lot of things had changed since then.

Another upcoming test is on this Friday. むっGotta be consistent with the test result. Pretty stressed to be in a class with mixture of JLPT 2 holders and some who had studied by themselves... There are only 8 students, including me, in this class. I supposed this is the smallest class as compare to the others.

Even though, right now, we are studying from the basics, I think it's better than jumping to the intermediate level. At least now I can slowly remember all the grammar and sentence structures that I'd learnt before. We are at a faster pace so will be completing the Minna no Nihongo 1 by end of this month... and then it will be the Golden Week for 7 days straight~

Went to try out the KARAOKE in Sapporo. There's one about 2 mins walk from the school. For students, it's only 53yen/30mins (without drinks). One drink for student is only about 105 yen. The good thing in Japan is that they will serve you iced water for free without asking and it's not even in a small cup! It's the same at MacDonald's too. My classmate tried out the Lunch hour special so we had separate rooms. First time singing by myself too... not as fun as with friends bah... was kinda weird. The Lunch hour deal is pretty attractive as well. For the price of 650yen (Student price, 750yen for normal rate), it includes 2 hour of karaoke, one meal (looks pretty delicious) and free flow of drinks (not just the normal kind of soft drinks leh). Quite worth...another sepcial is dessert or just free flow of drinks (500yen)... Waiting for Joc to sing with me... haha

For today...

Had health checkup today and I found out that I'd lost some weight! Haha... about 4Kg... Hope it goes down further...

Finally bought 1 box of cooked packed rice... 10 pack in one box that costs 798yen... This will last 20 meals for me haha... Don't have a rice cooker and not sure how to cook rice with a pot and a induction heater...

One pack of 5Kg rice, cheapest, is 1440 yen... the cooked rice pack that I've bought is 200g each, total 2Kg... so the price is almost about the same but the only difference is freshness bah...

Thinking about food everyday... planning recipe for the next dinner... haha

I think I've pretty much got all the necessities for my home sweet home~~~ And a keitai denwa...enjoying typing sms/email in japanese...Jelly Bean!!!
